9 Weeks Post Op (Saturday, Oct 11, 2008) (Wght: 200)

Oct 11, 2008

Sorry, it's been a while since I have written.  I had my first fill on Tuesday, Oct 7th (the day before my birthday).  I started the liquid diet on Monday (Oct 6) and I will start on mushy/soft foods tomorrow (Oct 12).  On Tuesday morning when I weighed in on my scale it said 211.5 and that afternoon when I got to the doctor's office I weighed in at 219...Go figure!  I'm just going by MY scale from now on.  How 'bout that!
Anyhoo, I finally started exercising since last week (vigorously on weekends only).  This morning when I got on MY scale, it said 200 pounds.  Yippee!!  I'll take it!  I haven't seen 200 on MY scale since 2002 before I had my daughter.  Thank God!  I hope and pray NEVER to see the 200s on MY scale again (or any other scale for that matter).  I've gone from a size 18/20 down to a comfortable size 16.

When I go back for my second fill on Dec 30th, I am hoping and praying that I will be down to 180 pounds.  But first I will have to survive the Holidays, but look forward to the New Year!

Shout out to Mochachino_Mommi for celebrating our birthdays together this month!  It was really great seeing you.  Keep up the good work...we can do this!

OH Please keep in touch until next time!

4 Weeks Post Op, August 30, 2008 (Saturday) Lost 26 pnds

Aug 30, 2008

Well I've made it through another week.  All together I have lost a total of 26 pounds since the pre-op diet.  I thought I would have lost more weight this week, but now I am down to 211 as of this morning.  It could be because I was on my cycle this week and forgot to take my blood pressure meds and retained more water.  I do notice how some of my clothes now fit differently.  My size 18 clothes are now loose and baggy.  I can get into some size 16 pants.  I am going to go through my closet this weekend and pull out all of the size 18 clothes to see what still fits and what doesn't.  I will start to take out all of the size 18s out of my closet and hope that they will NEVER return to my closet.

My goal is to be completely out of the 200s by October and I would like to be able to wear a size 16 and be comfortable in it.

Although I have increased my walking, I STILL need to do some exercises.  My skin is starting to become flabby and I need to tighten it up.  Dang, I wish there were some tightening cream for my arms, thighs and butt.  I know there is one for the double chin, but I don't need that one.
I found out that I was allergic to the "Mederma" cream that I was putting on my scars.  So now I will just use good ole cocoa butter (it's much cheaper anyway).

I go for my first fill on Tuesday, Sep 16th.  I will be ready for it by then because I can eat at least 2 tacos now whereas b4 I could barely eat 1.  It's still kinda hard to notice when I am full sitting down.  It's best for me to eat a little and then stand up.  I don't like when my stomache feels full.  I have to get up and walk around for about 15-20 minutes in order to feel better.
Anyhoo I am SO glad that I have taken this path.  Getting rid of the acid reflux alone has made all of the difference.  I haven't had any back pain (arthritis) in 4 weeks.  Hallelujah!!!
I did notice that when the temp dropped and when it was raining that I had a pain on my left side of my stomache...like a big cramp or something.

Anyway things are going pretty good, except for my job.  I've been meeting some really nice people and when folks ask me about the lapband, I am more than glad to share my experience which so far has been pretty good.  I'm blessed!

Take care OH and please keep in touch!

Ciao!

3 Weeks Post Op/Saturday, Aug 23 (212 pnds)

Aug 23, 2008

Hi there!  Guess what?  Since I returned to work this week, I have lost 7 pounds...OMG!!  I lost 3 pounds (Tues, Wed, Thurs) and then when I weighed myself this morning the scale said 211.5, so I always round up on weight instead of down. So now I am at 212.  I can't believe it!     Then again it could be from the stress of returning to my job that I HATE so much, but grateful to have.  I know, I know...it could b worse!
Anyhoo, I have been eating pretty much the same foods.  I make these lumpia spring rolls which are very low in fat.  I used to could eat about 7-10 of them in one sitting.  Now I can barely eat 2 of them.  I am still doing the high protein low carb thing.  I have NOT been drinking any protein shakes.  I will only drink the protein shakes after my fills.  The 2 week preop diet was enough for me of the protein shakes...I need a break!

My scars from the surgery are coming along slowly but surely.  I bought this cream called "Mederma" that is SUPPOSED to be excellent on new and old scars.  However, I beg the differ!  I spent $21.00 (Walmart) for this cream and I think cocoa butter for $4 or $5 would have sufficed.  I'm going to continue to use it since I paid my money for it, but next time...well there won't be a next time.

I will start taking some pics of me when I reach 200 or 199.  I will post my pics that my dad took the morning of the surgery as well.
Well until next week, please take care and many blessings to those who are just starting out.  Stay positive and in prayer!  Love, peace and happiness!  God Bless!

11 Days Post Op (Friday, Aug 15, 2008) 219 pnds

Aug 15, 2008

Hi there OH!
Well it's now been 11 days and I am recovering just fine.  I know that I am supposed to still be on mushy foods, but I am cheating and have already started eating regular foods.  I have lost a total of 17 pounds thus far.  I've actually been at this same weight for the past 4 days.  I'm wondering if it is because I am eating regular food.  Although I am eating regular food, don't get it twisted...it is only a LITTLE bit of regular food.  I still try to eat high in protein foods first.  I admit that my eyes are still bigger than my stomache.  I don't seem to realize that I am full until I actually stand up.  So now I eat a little and then I will stand up and move a little to recognize that hey it's time to stop because I am full.  I REALLY have to get used to NOT trying to eat ALL of the food on my plate.  I have to remember to give myself smaller portions so that I won't waste food.

I've gotten in the habit of weighing myself every morning instead of every week like I used to.  I am going to go back to weighing myself weekly instead of daily.  Somehow the watched pot never boils theory keeps coming to mind when I weigh myself daily.

It is still kind of uncomfortable to sleep on my left side but overall I am healing and moving around just fine.  I keep telling myself to get on the treadmill and I have only been on there once for 5 minutes.  My stomache still feels a little bloated.

I'm definitely NOT looking forward to returning to my office on Tuesday.  I hope and pray that I get a new job soon.  Please keep me in your prayers and if there is anyone out there that has any questions, please ask.  I will be more than glad to share.  Stay blessed!

FREE GAS!! (5 Days Post Op) (221 pnds) Aug 9th, 2008

Aug 09, 2008

Hello OH! I'm feeling much better now.    The gas pains and discomfort have ceased. Yippee!!     I was SO glad to be able to have a bowel movement (I know TMI).  I have started on mushy foods already remembering to eat the foods high in protein first.  I am now able to get in and out of bed without pain and discomfort unlike the first 3 days.  It still hurts a little to cough, sneeze, laugh a lot, or inhale a deep breath.  My stomache is still big and bloated filled with gas but at least it doesn't hurt.

Before my preop diet I weighed 237 and a week 1/2 during my preop diet, I weighed in at 225.  When I first came home from the hospital after surgery, I weighed 228 (my scale).  I think the weight gain was from the gas otherwise I can't explain it.
I will start exercising soon.  I want to try walking at least 2 minutes (to start) on my treadmill today or tomorrow.  It's been about a year since I've been on it due to my arthritis in my back.

My goal is to get completely out of the 200s by October.  My birthday is October 8th and I want to celebrate not only my birthday but losing 21 pounds and getting under 200 during that time.  So I would need to lose about 2.5 pounds a week to meet that goal.  I can do this!!  :o)

3 DAYS POST OP (Aug 7, 2008)

Aug 07, 2008

Still having gas pains!!  I will b glad when I can take a poop!  I have been walking and moving around but making sure that I don't overdue it.  The hardest part is lying down in bed to go to sleep and waking up in the morning to go to the bathroom.  It's getting better tho!  I will keep you posted!

I'M BANDED AND ON MY WAY, FOLKS!!!!! YIPPPEEEE!! (Aug 5th)

Aug 05, 2008

I am finally home.  I went in yesterday (Aug 4th) and my surgery was set for 0730 am and I was discharged today @ 0730 am.

I did the protein diet for 2 weeks.  I ate mostly the first week (egg whites, tuna fish, fish, almonds, cashews, steamed shrimp and things high in protein and low in carbs).

I am on liquids only for the next week or 2.  The gas pains are HORRIBLE!!
Well I need to get some sleep.  I will holler back in the morning some time.
Take care and best of luck to those who are waiting for their surgery date. My prayers are with you and thanks to those who have lifted me up in prayer as well.  God Bless!!

3 Days 2 Go Until SURGERY!! (Friday, Aug 1, 2008)

Aug 01, 2008

SO MUCH 2 DO, SO LITTLE TIME!!!!
I can't BELIEVE how much my job was stressing me this week!  Being on the preop diet was one thing, but the pressures at work, now that was it!  I ended up having anxiety/panic attacks.  My pcp had 2 give me Xanax 2 calm me down.  She said it would be okay 2 take prior 2 surgery.  OMG I can't believe I have reached this point.  Not 2 mention starting pre-menopause already on top of everything else.  Go figure!!

Well if anyone can relate, it would b nice 2 hear from u.

12th Day on Pre-op Diet...God Help Me!!

Jul 30, 2008

After the first 3 days on the liver shrinking diet, I started having a sharp pain on the left side of my stomach.  What thu??

I can't do the protein bars...4get it!!  Instead of the Optifast (cuz it tastes nasty),    I have been drinking the Atkins Advantage protein shakes.  It has 15g of protein and only 4g carbs and 1g of sugar.  Doesn't taste bad either.  I actually like drinking the Slimfast but it has 24g carbs.
For the first week I've been eating egg whites, tuna fish, steamed shrimp, almonds (10), cashews (unsalted), carrots, greens, bananas, pineapples, watermelon, no sugar added applesauce.  Just foods high in protein and low in carbs (very little portions or bites).  Drink LOTS of water, no sodas, juices or anything but water and protein shakes.  WATER!!!  Wow lack of water will make u not b able 2 POOP!!!  Talk about uncomfortable!  OMG!!!  Anyway, I lost 12 pounds the 1st week 1/2.

Well folks 2 more days until I'm on the losing side!  Wish me luck, pray 4 me, lift me up, etc...
