12/18/06 - My surgery day
We got to the hospital for 5:45am. About 7am they started an iv line. (Couple of trys) at about 7:30 they wheeled me down to recovery. I said goodbye to Chris. He's gonna wait in the lobby now. I talked to the anesethioligst and Dr. Brathwaite. I'm alittle nervous but, doing good. Next, they put a hair net on me and wheeled me into the OR room. I remember the room being very cold. They kept giving me warm blankets. anesethiogist gave me a sedative. which worked right away I remember everything getting blurry. Getting the epidural needle was fine no pain. Next thing I knew I was in the recovery room waking up. I remember I was so tired. I kept telling the nurse I wanted to sleep. When I finally started waking up I asked for Chris. I couldn't believe the time was already about 1pm Chris was so happy to see me He said he was going crazy waiting to see me. The surgery was finished around 11am I remember being wheeled in at 8am. The morphine was wonderful. I felt no pain and I didn't need to push the button for more. ON wednesday I started experiencing the gas pains. I walked and walked that definetily gets things movin. ONly problems I had was them trying to get IVs into me. Tuesday nite It took 4 different nurses from 11am to 2am to try to get another vein. My veins are small, deep. And the needle kept moving. Tuesday am Leak test was fine I had to drink a little bit of this "cocktail" and they did the x-ray. no problems. The drink didn't taste so bad. The magnesuium citrate stuff was the worste that i drank the day before the surgery they started me on the water, crstallite, tea, broth 1ounce every 30 mins. No problems at all.
