I'm a 51yr old single mom with 6 children, 4 singles and a set of twins. I have struggled with my weight since high school. At this point of time I have seen the success of so many others who have battled their weight and finally succeded their goals by having gastric by-pass. In February of 2007 I asked my primary care physician to approve the procedure for myself. I then had to wait a few months on a waiting list at Kaisers Options program that consisted of 6 months of classes every week. I then had to wait for approvals from Kaiser and my surgeon, which took an additional 10 weeks. Finally on January 15th 2008, I had my surgery. I was told it would take about a year and it did exactly that, with no complications. It has been 5 days since my surgery and for the most part I feel pretty good. I follow the doctors orders to a T, I think that helps. I also went from 311lbs at my highest weight to 265lbs the day of surgery. I did water aerobics everyday all through the summer, then started the treadmill and weights when it became to cold. I work out at least an hour everyday. I definetly feel that my weight loss and excercise before surgery made a tremendous positive outcome on how the surgery wasn't that hard on me. So from this point on I will continue my excersizing and nutritional program to obtain the best affects that I posssibly can with my new gastric by-pass.
