As a teenager, I carried an extra 20 to 30 pounds extra.  I was never a size 8, but I didn't have to wear plus size either.  I did all of the fad diets, weight watchers, nutra system, etc.  I would lose 20 and gain back 30.  I didn't reach the 200 mark until my pregnancy.  I lost all but 10 pounds of my pregnancy weight.  I was able to maintain that size for a couple of years then slowly the weight started creeping on.  I became less and less active and started relying more on convenience foods.  I use to get filled up on a happy meal and now I'm ordering the double burger super sized.

A couple of years ago I started a new job.  When I began there I was doing Atkins (for the 3'rd or 4th time).  That lasted until Halloween.  Everyone started bringing in the chocolate.  I'm not a huge sweet eater, so it was easy to resist at first.  I'm sure most of you know that once you cheat on Atkins, your done!  By the time January came around I had gained 30 pounds.  I developed this attitude that it was just easier to buy bigger clothes than to diet.

My husband is a large guy and he plans on having the surgery himself, hopefully this year.  He found the Kane group online and we both went to a seminar.  I did it mostly to support him.  I seen everything that he needed to do and I started doing it.  I went to the nurse practioner, nutrionist, and pcychologist once a month.  I started changing my lifestyle around.  I hate dieting and I decided that I would never do it again.  I just did baby steps in eliminating this and adding a little more activity.  I was able to lose 35 pounds in a year without struggling.

I started seeing the specialist to be checked for everything.  I saw the endocrinologist and she said that my numbers didn't look right when put together and I would need further testing for diabeties.  I only had pre diabeties, but she chose to treat it aggresively with the new drug Byetta.  It seems like I stayed sick.  I would be fine one minute and the next I couldn't think or move.  I would just shake all over.  My levels would be fine and my dr wasn't worried, so we stayed on the meds.  I think that my levels were use to being higher and now that they were in normal range, it was considered low to me.  Anyway, I didn't want a lifetime of having to worry about diabeties and my high blood pressure, my aches and pains that make me feel so old.  Thats when I made the appointment with Dr Rantis.
