I have been overweight since a young child and a yo-yo dieter since fourth grade.  I am now in my mid 30s and am so ready for a permanent change.  I have always been the fat and happy friend, but my health problems are becoming worse and worse.  I have been wanting RNY for the last ten years, but insurance has always been a problem.  I went through all the workups and medical approvals ten years ago only to have my insurance company tell me no.  My former insurance did not cover any medical weight loss surgery.  So i appealed with letters from three doctors and lots of paperwork only to be turned down again.  At my next two jobs my company was so large that they were able to write their insurance plans to include and exclude whatever they wanted.  My previous employer's insurance plan actually helped up to $20,000 with infertility treatment, $5000 for adoption costs up to two adoptions, and covered same sex couples...however, they would not cover surgery to help my fat *ss.  The company that I work for now covers weight loss surgery with a 7 month waiting process.  I have been to the doctor religiously since last year and have been to four specialists for medical clearance.  I am waiting to be cleared from my sleep doctor and it feels like forever.  As soon as she clears me I will be given a surgery date and do a little dance.  I will do whatever it takes for approval as I believe that God did not bring me this far to desert me now.
