A better future and new beginning!

My name is Sarah and I have struggled with my weight my entire life.  My weight as fluctuated by more than 80 pounds up and down, depending on my current diet.  I mostly stuck with low carbs (Atkins), which worked for the most part, but as soon as I stopped the diet the weight would reappear plus more.  Very frustrating because I am very active and athletic.  I love to workout and be outdoors with my family.  In 2009 after the birth of my second son, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and prescribed medication for control.  My blood pressure continued to rise even with the medication.  I have also been on medications for anxiety attacks for 16 years.  In May of 2012, my blood pressure was at a life threatening level, for which I was prescribed an additional medication to help lower my pressure.  I began to have swelling in my feet, lower legs, and hands.  My PCP prescribed me lasix to reduce the fluid retention.  The medication did not help and I was in severe pain on a daily basis.  My PCP also ordered a sleep study, which diagnosed me with OSA.  A CPAP machine was ordered for night use, but I could not tolerate the pressure.  I was depressed and miserable and decided to research wls, and completed an online orientation regarding Gastric Bypass.  I made an appointment with the Bariatric Clinic in November of 2012, and was approved with a surgery date of December 20th of 2012.  The entire process was extremely fast and easy.  I am now a little over 3 weeks post-op with 53 pounds lost so far.  I feel so much better with an increase in energy, motivation, and the drive to live a full life for ME and my FAMILY!  Good luck to all who are pre-op, post-op, or waiting for approval!  What a wonderful experience!
