Labs, Weight and Size

May 02, 2009

So I went to my PCM and asked him to run some labs for me since my surgeon is one who waits until 12 months and A) I don't want problems, and B) I don't want any off levels to delay my plastics at the 12-14 month mark... So I will list what I got and the normal range listed on the paperwork... Also, I am currently 136 and at 5'6 with broad shoulders and huge ribcage, I think I need to stop losing pretty soon. I went to Kohls last night because all my 4s are getting sloppy looking and I did find that although Chaps Ralph Lauren and Apt. 9 only go to 4, Vera Wang and Daisy Fuentes have 2s!! So I tried on 5 pairs of pants in 2 and they ALL fit except one pair which was ta daaa TOO BIG!!! DH is having fun carrying around his "new" wife lol, wonder when that novelty will wear off, not that I really mind.

So here are my labs:  ____ mine (normal)

CA - 9.5 (8.5-10.1)
Phosphorous - 3.9 (2.5-4.9)
Alk Phos 84 (36-136)

Folate - 18.9 (4.2-19.9)

Vit B-12 - 1426 (160-970) OFF the Charts HIGH
- I take 5000mcg sublinggual in addition to an IM injection every 3 months. Guess I should cut back on the sublingual. Is there any harm in having it too high?

5 Month Surgiversary Update

Jan 09, 2009

This month has been awesome. I greatly exceeded my weightloss goal that I had originally made for month 5 which was 60 lbs. I set that goal at the beginning rather than a 6 month goal because I was going on a cruise and wanted to set my sight on something that had a significant event ( having to wear a bathing suit counts lol.) So for month 5 I went from 178 to 163.5 lbs which equals 14.5 lbs lost. The funny thing was that I was at 168 when I left for our cruise that came home on my surgiversary day, and I had just hoped that it wouldn't be any higher. Needless to say the 4.5lbs on the cruise did great for my numbers. Most of the size 10's I took on the cruise are getting pretty baggy and I can comfortably wear a few 8s as well. I had my husband put 80.5 lbs / 5 months in his phone calulator and found out I have still averaged 16 lbs per month which actually sounds a little high at this point, particularly because I was on the "slow looser" side of things in the beginning. I have one shake in the morning and then eat lean fish or chicken first and vegies second... My only confession is that with the sick kids and school my exercise is seriously lacking but I am committed to getting back on that wagon.. I have my 5 month pics done as well :).

5 Year Wedding Anniversary and Cruise

Jan 09, 2009

My DH and I just got back from a Caribbean cruise celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. It was such a relaxing time and we really needed that after two months of sick babies. We went on a cruise for our one year anniversary as well and this couldn’t have been more different. My DH was able to actually enjoy himself because he used his nausea band that shocks your wrist and keeps nausea under control (nothing else has worked for him.) I was so much more comfortable (both physically and emotionally) because unlike last cruise where I was around 235 in size 16+, this cruise I was 165 in a size 8-10! Woohoo. For the first time in a long time I couldn’t be in enough pictures. My husband was thrilled at my new self confidence and enjoyed getting to take pictures with me in them rather than just “scenery” pictures. Also, we went on Carnival cruise and their dining room food was excellent. Here is the true kicker….. I LOST WEIGHT ON A CRUISE!! That’s right, at 5 months out, eating only the “spa carnival” (ie low fat, low cal) meals which tasted awesome I lost 4.5lbs in 5 days. I felt like a celebrity with a personal chef to prepare me healthy delicious meals. Now I’m back in the real world and have to cook like everyone else lol. The only thing was I did add salt to the meals because they were also low in sodium as they were trying to cater to all health conditions or requests in cooking the healthier menu items. Well I have rambled enough so I will leave you with some pictures J.

Month 3 and 4

Dec 17, 2008

So much has happened with kids and school that I have completly failed with writing progress reports. Luckily the progress hasn't stoped though :).  For month 3  I reached onederland and was able to drop 16 extra pounds which took me from 208 to 192. At that point I believe I was wearing mostly sz 14 pants and medium-large tops.  Month 4 I lost 14 pounds and went from 192 to 178. Three days ago 12/14 I achieved my biggest goal to date.... To weigh less than my husband!!! We were HS sweethearts and all through HS he was only 145 so most the time I was bigger and now that he is 175 at 6' tall he is just perfect but I was still bigger... well on 12/14/08 I passed him "down" weighing in at 174 :). Today I was 172.5 and I'm very happy with my weightloss so far 71.5 lbs since Aug 8th. I now comfortable fit in "all" (that I have tried) sz 12 pants and can put on most 10's they just don't look right just yet. My baby skin on my belly is keeping my waist from being smaller and I know I would be a sz 8-10 based on my hips if it wasn't for the extra skin from the babies. Oh well, as soon as I reach goal I am having a consult with the PS for a tummy tuck.  I really appreaciate the kind words and support from all the wonderfull, kind-hearted people on OH and wish you all the success in the world.

Month 2 Surgiversary

Oct 08, 2008

Well time has really flown these past couple months and I am starting to see some changes in my body. Not so much in the mirror, but in the way clothes are fitting me. Month one I went from 243 to 222 lbs, and month 2 I have gone from 222 to 208 (almost all the first two weeks as I have been in a horrible stall...) I just started a new exercise routine and my wonderful DH is my trainer. I do Monday, Wednesday, Friday of a circuit training schedule he designed and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday of cardio which is mainly the treadmill. My muscles are aching so I hope that means good stuff is coming. I really want to be in the 180’s or better by our cruise on January 3rd but we shall see. I have gone from a 1x to a large in tops and a 16w (should have been 18 but just wore my biggest 16s) to a 14 misses in pants.

One Month Weigh In

Aug 29, 2008

Monday, Sept 9th was my one month surgiversary and I just wanted to say for all the pre-ops that it has gotten alot easier. I am no longer hungry and I feel full much faster now. I measured my  "allowed" portion for lunch and couldn't finish it where as I could no problem 2 weeks ago. For everyone who worries about the hunger and lack of fullness please believe it does come like everyone says. As of Monday I went from 243 pre-op and surgery day (no change between) to 222 lbs. Not the biggest loss but I just hope it keeps going .

My treadmil ROCKS!!!

Aug 18, 2008

So two nights ago I set the "learn workout" program while I was exercising so that I could create a routine that worked best for my speed and endurance abilities. Well I am improving so quickly that while the length in time of 40 min stays the same, I keep bumping up the speed and it saves my progress from session to session. This way when I go to the workout, it goes to my most recent "adjustments" and I can press the speed up button whenever I'm ready. With my body requiring more and more speed to maintain the same pulse due to getting in better shape, this is perfect. I know I will eventually take days or weeks to progress but right now I can do more every single workout session. I am burning 200+ calories per session which is causing me to get hungry in the evenings so I called the surgeon with my concerns because last night I layed in bed hungry and unable to sleep for an hour before I got up and took a slice of deli meat and cheese and rolled it up and ate it. The nurse said that was perfectly fine given the fact that I was truly hungry and not just "head hungry". She agreed it is most likely due to my increasing exercise and believes that to be far more important than having to eat a high protein snack. If anthing, it might help me burn more by reducing the "starvation mode"...

Miles:
Yesterday - 1.5 - 38 min - 200cal
Today - 1.7 - 40 min - 220 cal

Menu and Miles - August 15
