I'm feeling my way

Feb 02, 2009

Well, I'm not really sure how to navigate my way through OH yet, but I'm going to do a test run here....I'm assuming this goes on my profile...we shall see.

So this is a two part...I'm feeling my way.....
1. through the OH site...AND
2. through my lapband journey.

I have had my 3rd fill in Jan...after 11 months of waiting.  This is not the fault of my doctor, but the cirumstance of moving and trying to find the right doc for my needs.  So my major piece of advice for ya'll out there is if you are moving....find a doc before you do!
Now it is barely February and I need another fill!  So far I have 4.5 cc's in a 10 cc band.  My doc's office can't see me until March 3rd...so Here I sit....aggrivated....and in a stand still on the scale.  SO I tried to beef up (not muscle wise, but in obedience point of view).  I now have increased my protein, water, vitamin, B12, calcium intake.  Well after doing this for a week...I've found the scale actually went up!  Yikes....but I'm not going to let myself get discouraged!  Because my clothes still fit well.  SO I'm guessing either it is water retension OR muscle bulk up.  Either way...that weight won't stay.  A major thing I have learned through this lapband process is not to beat myself up.  It doesn't do anyone any good.  I have to learn to forgive myself and move forward.  I can make this band work for me as long as I work for it.
So just to give a report...I'm at 217 lbs (up from 213 a week ago).  I haven't lost much weight, since being banded...20-30lbs...but I have decided to go from my largest size and count down from that.  For this isn't just a lapband journey...this is weightloss journey....my largest weight was 267....So I'm down now 50 lbs.  Woot!

Introduction Continued......

Sep 26, 2008

It was here that I was introduced to the lapband.  Now this is looking more appealing.  So I decided to go ahead and get it done.  To my dismay.....another insurance problem.  This time on the side of the doctors!  Grrr.  Now I'm just plain aggitated!
So it took a little while to figure out what to do.  With a little prayer and study, I was led to Dr. Tillquist in Denver.  Now everything worked smooth as glass.  Apparently the Lord wants to work on his time.  :)
My surgery was November 9, 2007.   I started at 246 lbs and now I am at 218 as of September 2008.  I'm sure that number would of been larger, but we had to move to Mississippi and I haven't been back to a bariatric doc since February 2008.  So here I sit.  I found a new doctor, just have to get the $$$ to go.  And with the move, that is short on the supply shelf!  I'm willing and ready to continue.  I want to say that this surgery has really changed my life.  I know that sounds cliche, but it has.  My energy level has increased, my self esteem has grown & I can be who I truely am!  Beautiful.
