I'm Sheryl, wife to Jim for 25 years, mom to four wonderful kids and grandma to one beautiful baby girl.
I grew up normal weight, but always felt big because I was wearing 9's and 11's (at 5'10") in Jr. High and my girlfriends were wearing 3's and 5's.  In spite of being a healthy weight, I began a string of diets starting in about 7th grade.  I didn't actually need one until I hit my 20's.
I gained steadily over the years, especially after having my babies, and eventually ended up well into the 300's. My highest recorded weight was 341 lbs, taken in 2000 to see if I would fit into the MRI machine.  (They managed to squeeze me in.)  That MRI was the beginning of discovering that I had cancer called MPNST- Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor.  Through the course of surgery and treatment, I lost down to 269lbs.  That's the lowest I've been in years.  Unfortunately, I've slowly gained most of it back.  I'm now around 320 and feel horrible.
Like most of you, I've done many different diets and joined various diet groups, but after losing a little, I would lose my momentum and eventually gain the weight back plus more.
I've decided that I'm ready for weightloss surgery.  I'm afraid of gastric by-pass, but am interested in either lap-band or VSG.  I'm currently researching to try and decide which would be best for me. I'll let you know what I decide.
