Julie D.
7 month post-op
Feb 17, 2009
It's hard to believe but it's my 7th month surgery anniversary today. I had surgery on July 17 at a weight of 274.8. I am now down 98 lbs as of this morning to bring me down to 176.8 lbs.
Never in my wildest dreams did I believe I would be so low again that I can't even remember me at this weight in the past. I asked my family doctor back in January to find out when was the last time I was under 200 lbs. After going back a long way in my file because I've been seeing her for 20 years now, it showed me at 199 back in March of 1995. I just about fell off my chair because that is 13 and half years later as I hit 199.8 a week before X-Mas. It was such an amazing x-mas gift for myself.
What to say to those thinking about Weight Loss Surgery. Well it has changed my life for the better. Here is a list of WOW moments I've experienced over the past 7 months:
- no more snoring (instantly)
- walk faster
- can walk up stair without being out of breath
- cross my legs
- pants size from 26 to now 14
- more energy
- love exercise
- not obsessed with food
- more confidence
- less moody
- buy clothes in a regular store not + size
- enjoy sex
- lighter then my husband
- had wedding rings resized (1 & 1/4 size smaller)
- more flexible (can tie my shoes)
- feeling more healthy
- no more pants pinching at the waist
- move the car seat up
- more room between my belly and the streering wheel
- more room in office chairs
- being under 200 lbs
- have x-mas and not gain
- first year with no New Year's Resolution to loose weight
- i'm a cheap date (restaurant)
- my husband can lift me
- have guys give you a second look
I know the list is long but I think it's important to talk about all these things.
At this point of the weight loss process I am able to eat almost anything I want except for high surgar foods and things that are deep fried. I do get a little cramping but I just chose to stay because it's not good and slows down the weight lost.
What more to say but I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to anyone having surgery soon or thinking of making that step. I don't mind answering any questions you might have. If I don't have the answer someone on OH will have the answer for sure.
Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone for supporting me over the past 9 months since my journey began. It's meant the world to me and I hope to provide that to someone in need in the future.
