Status Update!

Sep 30, 2011

Its been 2.5 months since surgery and I have to say though it was hard at first, I love that I made the decision to have RNY.
I have officially lost 58lbs so far, and I can definitely tell a difference. My face has slimmed down quite a bit, my stomach has gone down drastically, then of course my breast have dropped, and unfortunately I am losing my hips/thighs/and butt. OAN: I had to see my chiropractor today for an alignment cause my hips have been killing me since I've dropped so much weight.

As far as my diet, I'm getting used to it. Although, I haven't been able to get in all my meals on a daily basis yet, I try daily. Per my nuts advice I've been trying different sources of protein, and I have to say so far chicken and roast are no longer my friends. Every time I eat either chicken or roast no matter how its cooked, it tries to kill me, literally! I can't breath, and my chest starts hurting extremely bad to the point that i have to vomit. I notice that if I forget to weigh my food and eat more than the 1/3c of food I'm allowed at a time, then the same thing happens.

Anyhow, I wouldn't have done things any differently I love my pouch! I can't wait for the end results!

2 week post-op update!

Jul 26, 2011

Ok, for the record; anyone who says that RNY surgery is easy, is nuts!!! That was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!
Ok, now that I've said that, I have to say I have no regrets so far. Even though I was in the worst pain ever for like a week, I would do it all over again. Today I am exactly 2 weeks out from surgery and I have lost a total of 27lbs since I've started, a total of 13lbs since surgery. I am down from 311lbs to 283lbs!!! I am so excited that the surgery is working so far.

Starting today I can move up to the blended diet, but I have to say that I'm scared to move on from liquids. First off, blended food does not sound the least bit appetizing, and I can't even think of anything to eat. On top of that I can't seem to get all my protein down, it seems like a chore and it doesn't taste the same as it did before my surgery. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't hungry, as a matter of fact, yesterday was the first time since surgery that I have felt hunger and I didn't know whether I should try to fulfill it or ignore it.  I have gone this far without any reaction to what I've drank or ate, but I'm afraid with more options comes more problems and I do not want to experience dumping.

After many temptations this past week, and through the struggle with this pre-op diet I made an amazing accomplishment. Yes me! I am now weighing in at 298 lbs from 311 lbs in the past 8 days. Now to just get under 200lbs and I'll be ecstatic! Thank you all for your support through out this past week with this pre-op diet, I couldn't have gotten through without your encouragement.  I am so excited, now I know I can make it through the last 6 days of this pre-op diet.

Pre-op diet starting weight - 310lbs

7 days in counting!!

Jul 05, 2011

So I've been on the pre-op diet for a week now. I'd have to say I'm doing pretty good so far, yes I cheated once, but then I picked myself back up and got back on track. I think its so hard because I'm a meat and potatos girl, and all I'm allowed is carnation drinks, fruits, and veggies. It was really hard keeping myself from eating on the 4th especially since everyone was BBQ'n, but I did it. As a result of staying on track I have lost 8.8 lbs since I've started. 7 more days to go til I'm on the table, I'm starting to get anxious!
On a personal note. my temptation for food has become even stronger this past weekend. My sister moved in for a while and she's a cooker. She's been frying and baking all kinds of stuff. Then she gets this look on her face while she's eating as though its the best food in the world (kinda looks like she's making love to each bite, lol). So far I've been strong enough to tell her " Thats ok, you keep cooking and eating like that, eventually I'm gonna get my sexy back while you keep gaining weight from all that delicious food". lol!  But honestly in all reality I'm missing being able to eat what I want, my motivation is the fact that I need to do this to be healthy and to feel better about myself. I just hope its not this hard and my stomach is less than half its size. Cause with a normal/oversized stomach, I'm hungry!

Starting Pre-op diet

Jun 29, 2011

Hey everyone,
Just figured I'd check in, since its been a while since I posted anything on here. So today I officially started my  pre-op diet. I tried starting it on monday to get the hang of it, and I did good until dinner time and by then I was starving. So I decided to go a head and wait until my doctor ordered start date. I have to tell you when you cannot have real food, everything looks good and it seems like you get hungry way more often.
For instance, a normal day I may only get hungry around lunch time, so I normally eat a nice size lunch and I'm good the rest of the day. But mentally knowing that I cannot eat certain things and that I can only have 2 protein shakes, 3 medium sized fruits, 3/4c of veggies and liquids, has made me extremely hungry. So far I have had a protein shake, and 2 medium sized fruits, and 2 sugar free jellos and its 4:30 and I feel as though i am starving; not just in my head but my stomach is literally crying.
I would say I can't wait for these 2 weeks to be up, but then I won't even be able to eat!
Well wish me luck cause I'm gonna need it, especially with the 4th coming up and the smell of BBQ in the air.

Ugh! A little irritated today! I just received a call from my surgeons scheduler and she informed me that my doctor has asked to move all of his late June surgeries! I'm like great, I hate waiting! Any who, my new surgery date is July 12th. Hopefully, it stays that way!
