I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I was born a preemie but from age 2 on wards I have always been noticeably bigger than my peers. My size made social activities awkward and uncomfortable, I was always teased and judged even in my own family. My aunt put me on a diet/ exercise regimen when I was 11 but needless to say it wasn't very successful. It wasn't until I was about to start college I found a burst of needed self esteem to change things, I did the atkins diet for 2 years but plateaued at 190. After that I went on crash diets and laxatives you name it until I gave up and saw my weight creep up again until one day I said this is it and went onto have vsg. My insurance wouldn't cover the procedure because even though I was clearly obese I wasn't obese enough for my insurance to cover the procedure not only would I have to have a bmi over 40 but in addition to that I would also need to have had 2 morbid health conditions. So  determined to have the procedure I researched  until I came across an out of pocket cost I could afford yet be assured I was in good hands and that was Hospital Angeles. So far I have good and bad days like anyone else but little to no regrets about my decision. The first month is the hardest but I feel empowered about my decision every passing day!
