Dennis C. Smith, Jr.

"I am so impressed with Dr. Smith. He was extremely thorough in my workup so that by the time the office submitted my paperwork there was NOTHING that hadn't been documented. Dr. Smith has an excellent education department. He required 5 dietitian visits, probably about 8 hours total dietary education alone. Plus, at least 2 support group meetings, which also focused on diet and exercise. Dr. Smith expected me to take advantage of every opportunity he had to offer and he also expected me to do my homework. When I had a few little complications in the hospital, Dr. Smith was quickly responsive and called in those specialists who could turn things around. I was supposed to have a 23-hour stay, but that went out the window within 12 hours. Dr. Smith did not try to push me out too soon, despite the fact that the hospital was SLAMMED at the time. He or his partner visited me twice a day and his dietitian and office staff visited me twice during the 4 days I was there. I had a sleeve gastrectomy and I have to say, it was harder than I thought it would be. But despite the complications and the longer hospitalization, I am very pleased with the treatment I have received from Dr. Smith and his partner, Dr. Jean-Pierre."

Wellstar Kennestone

"Being hospitalized is always a nerve-wracking experience, but the staff at Kennestone really worked to calm me. They treated me with respect and kindness at all times. I had a few complications after surgery and the nurses really pounced on it to get me treated quickly so they didn't progress. I have only two negatives to report: ** the lack of wide table in the xray room where they put in my central line. It was quite narrow, so I felt like I needed to really balance myself. On the other hand, one of the xray techs had undergone WLS herself and was extremely supportive to me during procedure. **They have a lot of parking, but everything in the hospital is a sizeable hike from the parking lot, more than a half mile. If you have mobility issues, ask for a wheelchair. When you go in for pre-admission, you will be walking A LOT to the various places. There is valet parking, but honestly, this was of very little use to me because my knees are so bad. Overall, I give Kennestone great marks. The nursing staff on 5-South, which is where my doctor sends all his patients were really knowledgeable and just fabulous nurses."

Steven Walfish

"Dr. Walfish was a pleasant surprise. From the first time I called him for my psych eval to the actual appointment was 2 days. Two days! His office is comfortable. He obviously takes his job seriously and he is thorough in his testing. No topic is off-limits and when I tried to prevaricate a little, he brought me right back around. He left no stone uncovered. I would highly recommend Dr. Walfish."
