Who knew that we are supposed to tell our story? So after being here for two years, I'll see what I can come up with. Unlike most people, I had already lost my weight when I found OH. I came here for the Plastic Surgery Board. Prior to that, I was on a plastic surgery forum for what I call Barbies. They had no idea what I was going through with "reconstructive surgery" after massive weight loss. They were mostly all there for mommy makeovers...a breast lift with implants and a tummy tuck. When I came here and they knew what and LBL was...Lower Body Lift, and why a gal would need one, I knew I'd found my home!
To make a long story short, I gained over a hundred pounds in one year. It took years for doctors to diagnose my reason for gaining so much weight, but they finally found out that I had a severe case insulin resistance and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome....PCOS. The only way to control that is to go on a low carb diet and exercise. It may have been the reason I gained weight, but I had to do the work to lose it! I went on Dr. Atkins and started a workout program and although it took me six years to lose the weight because of my 'circumstances', I lost 129 pounds. My plastic surgeon cut off 25 and I am now a size smoothe!
Now that I am done with the plastics end of my journey, I usually hang on the Non Op board for support with maintenance. So that's ma story!
