Togo's

Sep 28, 2008

today I had togo's for lunch,  togo's soup that is!  I only had my surgery a month and 1 week ago, so Im afraid to try to eat a sandwich, so I had the Garden Vegetable soup. all I did was take the corn out and I mixed the crackers they gave me, in it.   It was delicious!!  :-)  no problems at all with this soup.
Thank God!!
any advise on  recipe books?  one of my friends told me the name of one, but I forgot it. I think its called eating right after gastric bypass surgery.
are there anymore?

Indian Somosas and Mexican Tamales

Sep 28, 2008

So yesterday we went to an Indian party, and a mexican Party,
for food they had  somosas and tamales.
we had to get up early in the morning because my daughter had  soccer pictures and that was at 8 am pacific time. so I didnt really get to eat like im supposed to (my Dr calls it "the 4x4",  four ounces of food,  4 times a day.)
anyway so I was hungry at the Indian party, and I ate a somosa, it looks like a piramid made of hard tortilla but on the inside it has mashed potato mixed with all kinds of spices with some kind of seeds and peas, so i knew I could eat the mashed potato part cuz I can eat mashed potato, No problem! it was spicey but i did not have a problem with it, I avoided the seeds and peas, cuz youre supposed to avoid that! I also avoided the shell, as a drink I had indian tea mixed with milk, and I had no problem with that eighter. I was pleased, ;-)
at the end of the night we went to my brothere in law's bday party, they had mexican tamales, so I had tamal, i really wanted to try that so i did, and i had no problem with that eighter, I was kind of scared because I been having trouble with the foams comming out my stomach when it doesnt agree with something!  not really throwing up or diarrea problem just foam, but I was also pleased with  that, Of curse I avoided the bday cake, that mean garbage to me now. know what im saying?
So pretty soon ill be back to work (oct 6th). not looking forward to that but my bills wont stop comming to my house hahahaha
I have been bad about doing my food logs but i plan on getting better at that.
If anybody has any ideas about the food gastric bypass patients are allowed to eat please let me know, I like to try different things all the time.
any recipes for good healthy food, gastric bypass patient food? please feel free to forward them to me.
thanks.

LAZY

Sep 26, 2008

So yeah like the title says, I have been real lazy for a week now, I think its because I have to go back to work oct 6th, and I been having so much fun being here at home doing my thing, going to the gym, shoping, etc, etc,
to tell you the truth the last time I went to the gym was last friday.
I think its finally sinking in that I had surgery and in a week I have to go back to working 10 plus hrs a day. :-(.
I have met so many people on here, really cool people, with really nice stories and tips, and recipes.   I cant believe how time flies when youre at home.
I work as a bus driver, for Lockheed Martin, in sunnyvale Ca, and my job is real serious, I work with a lot of important people, sometimes I have to carrie the CEO of the company, sometimes I have to transport the Gobernor,  it could even be the president of the U.S. so my job can be really hard sometimes theres no room for error, NEVER!.
so I havent missed my job at all or the people I work with.
But unfortunately it pays really good, and I got bills.
otherwise I would quit and do what I always wanted to do :   have my own motorcycle and hot rod shop. kind of like WEST COAST CUSTOMS but with motorcycles added. (something between west coast customs and orange county choppers.)  One day. I will.

I also wanted to say that Im so sick of getting the goddamn foams, it seems like every other thing I eat will give me that shit. Im so sick of it. I would rather throw up then get the foams, but I havent threw up, not 1 time , just the stupid foams, when is that shit gonna go away? and what are those green things that come up with the foams? are those green loogies?  anybody got an idea of what Im saying? please let me know.
The foams make me fell like im super stuffed and like if I had food all the wy to my throat, but i think its cuz the foam takes up all the space in my little pouch.  :-(   not happy about that!!!!

The Foams!!

Sep 22, 2008

So far the only problems I had is the foamies, (thick flem). and Eggs.
I asked a couple of my friends about it, and they say its pretty normal at first.
The first time I ate eggs I had a bad stomach ache, the second time I tried, the same thing happened, so I decided to try egg whites only, and I got a stomach ache all night long, so in a week or so Ill try egg beaters.
hopefully that will be better.

The second thing I ate that gave me "the foamies" is a week ago when I tryied tuna.
I can eat tuna but only by itself or mixed with WALDEN FARMS DRESSING, not with any kind of  mayonaisse, and thats what happened, My cousin mixed it with mayo and I think because it has egg in it, I got the foams.
This dressing is calorie free, sugar free, fat free, carbohydrate free, gluten free, and cholesterol free.
In Norhtern california you can get it at PW Markets,   theres different flavors too  yeah!!!!! :-)
The third time I got the foam was last saturday, we went to denny's and I ordered grilled tilapia with mashed potato and applesause,
I dont know which one made gave me the foams, it was my first time eating tilapia, ( after RNY ) that is, and I dont know if the mashed potato had fat free gravy or not, (I dont think so) and the appleasauce probably
wasnt sugar free.
yesterday I ate the left over tilapia, and I didnt get the foams. so I know it wasnt the fish yay!! (good protein source).
If anybody else had any troubles with this issue, I would like to hear your stories.
thanks.

Denny's and Walmart

Sep 21, 2008

Yesterday, saturday 9/20/08 we went to Denny's for the 1st time in 2 months, It had been a long time because before my surgery I was pre occupied trying to loose weight so I can get my RNY.
It felt great because I had the grilled tilapia with mashed potatoes and appleasause, no rice. I was only able to eat not even half of that, but I'll eat the rest today, (left overs are always good).
after denny's we went home and I put all my big clothes in garbage bags, Im saving them because (Im trying to put them on the clothes exchange program.) at night we went down to walmart and I was able to buy a bunch of clothes for $2OO. I got  $8 jeans plus lots of $4.00  t shirts with logos on them, and a bunch of dress up shirts for $14.00, ( I could have said I went to macy's but Im cheap and I dont lie) its true!!
In the past I spent $200 on a couple Items only at the big and tall store, Im glad I dont ever have to go there again!!.
right now im 273 lbs, I was 354 in 2006, I lost 50lbs before my RNY, and I lost the rest after my RNY.
I am very happy about the whole thing, and now Im healthier, in less then  2 years ill be 140lbs. yay. hahhhhahahaha.

I have been a professional bus driver since 1998.

Sep 17, 2008

yes, I've  been driving since 1998, always on the go, my lifestyle messed me up, ( not that I was super skinny)  I would always eat junk  and drive, no time for nothing else, I would always work crazy hours, and eat while I drove or not eat all day and eat like a pig when I finally made it home, I was so tired never wanted to do exercise or even walk.
Now I still drive, but my schedule is different, I have set hours for brakes lunches even dinner. plus I have time for  exercise and other acivities.
I red in a book that said I had to make time for myself, not just work, or the family, but for me! and thats what I do now, Im stingy, with my time, I know it sounds weird but its true.
here's the name of that book I red: THIN FOR LIFE by Anne fletcher, just in case youre intersted, its a very helpfull book, I also red EATING THIN FOR LIFE by Anne Fletcher, and IS WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY RIGHT FOR YOU?, by Robinn F Apple. very good books also.
now I know my RNY was right for me, Im loosing weight and Im healthier, and I wont stop till I reach my goal of 140 Lbs. Im 276 right now.
I was 24 years old when I started driving and I wasnt 354 lbs like I was in 2007, I was 231I was heavy but not so heavy, eating junk food got me upthere, (burgers, tacos, burritos, sodas, etc etc).
I finally got brave and got my gastric bypass, (thank God) and now I've been home 3 weeks just recouperating, ill be here 3 more.
eating healthier, exercising, taking my vitamins for ever.

A New Life Ahead.

Aug 17, 2008

Its august 17th 2008, and my surgery is tomorrow the 18th of august 2008, at 10:40 Am,  I'm supossed to be there at 8:40 am.   please keep me in your prayers.!!

Im super excited about it, I'm doing it because I want to be healthier and because I have a family now, I want to live a long time, (for my wife and kids) and be able to fit on all  the rides  when we go to the amusement parks.  "these are only some of my reasons".
