New Dance

Jul 02, 2016

I really need to post more than once a year. My lowest weight was 211 my highest weight was 372. I am currently back up to 283 lbs, 40 of which I regained in 3 months. I now have hypothyroidism, I shake all the time. I'm starting on a new journey. Next week I go to a new Bariatric Surgeon to discuss a revision. This took a while due to insurance but another doctor found him for me. Still looking for a good PCP that knows about roux-n-y. In two weeks I go see a neurologist about the shaking and headaches. I feel like everything just fell apart and I have to start all over again. It's very frustrating and I'm nervous and oh so scared of what's to come. Head up though. I want to be able to enjoy life again.

Too Long......

Feb 16, 2015

Its been a long time, too long. Still looking to get my revision surgery. Wow so much has happened since I've been on here. I wish I could go back and record my lowest weight which was 218. I'm now back to almost 250 but when I look and see my original weight was 372 lbs when I started this journey, its not so bad. That's a 122 lb loss. However I'm still extremely obese and have alot of health issues stemming from my gastric bypass. My stoma is enlarged and has been since July 2008, one month after my surgery. I am deficient in b-12, iron and vitamin d. I take five different vitamins daily and recently was told my iron is under control for the first time since surgery. Thats amazing in my book. Now my journey begins again with looking for a surgeon to preform my revision.

Well yesterday I went for my follow up to all the test that have been run on me over the last few months. I need a revision. I am very upset over it considering I have wanted answers 4 months after surgery when I stopped losing weight. It has nothing to do with the pouch. My pouch is still very small. The stoma was over dialated when I had my stricture fixed- of course.... why didn't I think of that! So my surgeon has vanished and I now have a wonderful Bariatric staff- with good references by the way. This is the part where I FAILED! I did not check out my surgeon before hand- I checked out the clinic but not the surgeon- had I done this I would have chosen another due to the fact he didn't even have 6 months worth of surgeries or experience. I know I'm writing a book here but its been awhile and I have walked around ashamed and blaming myself for almost a year I need to get this out. The NEW wonderful surgeon and his staff talked to me about my options- which are only one- the new ROSE procedure. Its been explained I only can get this revision currently because any other option is not open because my pouch is so small. The reason for this was explained that if they did a lap band there is not enough pouch to connect to the intestine to prevent the band from slipping. The other is a vertical sleeve gastrectomy but again I have only regained 8 pounds and its too expensive. All of the option are currently too expensive for me since my insurance will not cover any of these revision options. Bottom line- I need to save some money to get the rose procedure and my advice to others research, research, research and by the way RESEARCH before picking your surgeon or having any surgery.

I am trying to stick to posting once a month. My PCP found me a bariatric doctor! I can finally get some bloodwork done and eventually get some answers to my none existent weight loss issues. I do accept responsibility in this lack of weight loss. I did not thoroughly investigate my surgeon. I ignored advice from other rny patients and took some advice that was very wrong. I tested my pouch- sweets and foods we shouldn't eat- ok not so much shouldn't but not in the quantities I tried! I go for bloodwork this weekend and I am waiting for calls from the hospital to get my scope and another test done to check for the ulcers and some bacteria that may be in there and also to check my stoma. Hopefully I will have the answers soon and yes I am considering a revision if the surgeon says its a necessary option.

Ok maybe I can post once a month. Haven't lost anymore weight. If my iron does not improve the doctor is going to an IV- I don't want that but I get tested one more time and then we'll see what happens. I have not given this 100%. I know that. I did buy a bike and I've started riding it- I love my bike! I may have an obstruction and the ulcers are back. I was looking at my chart last week and I stopped losing weight after 6 months. YEP! I have not lost 1 pound since January and my surgery anniversary- 1 year was June 10th! Only I COULD SCREW UP WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY!!!!! This is why I don't post anymore.

****Edit to post****

I have lost weight since January- however- its the same three to five pounds each month- I gain and lose it on a weekly basis. Just wanted to set myself straight!!!

June 1st, 2009....almost a year!

Jun 03, 2009

Well...June 10th will be my one year since surgery. I'm still huge but you can't beat losing 87 pounds. I could not have done it on my own. I bought a bike and yes I've actually been riding it...when its not raining. I'm at a loss for words anymore. I have lots of energy now except when I get home from work. I can cross my legs and bend down to tie my shoes and walk much further than I have been able to in years! I have not lost a pound since 7 months out and I feel very discouraged. I am going to see another doctor and see if somethings going on I don't know about and if I have to go under again I will. I talked to someone last weekend who had gastric bypass 2 times and is now going in for a third surgery. She gained all her weight back because she didn't follow her surgeons plan. I told her I follow the food just fine, excercise is my current issue. I'm dealing with the anemia. I guess I don't understand why she would continue to get this surgery- which I'm pretty sure she has no stomach at this point- and NOT follow what her surgeon tells her!!! I will only go again if they find something wrong. I'll post when I find out.

I went to a marketing group tonight. It made me think too much and on my way home I got alittle depressed on the realization of the severe lack of support I have. I can blame it mostly on myself. We had to do this homework of a collage...... I wanted to keep mine after I finished it but we had to leave them so I took a picture. I'll post it. I had to think of myself for this project which isn't easy for me. It was nice talking with people of similar circumstance. My positive thought..... I did not eat the cookie!!!!! Yes this was on weight loss surgery and they had cookies, chips, pop and sandwich's with lots of bread. Maybe that was a test....well we all passed!

March 27th, 2009.....

Mar 29, 2009

Well I went to see my PCP today to discuss my boodwork she ordered two weeks ago due to my slow weightloss and my energy level. I have been diagnosed with Anemia. This explains alot about my weightloss and energy. I have no energy. I could literally sleep all day. When I excercise I am so tired afterward, most people get more energy, not I!! I also have problems with "brain fog"- didn't know that was a symptom- it is! Well I am iron deficient and maybe (getting more bloodwork done) B-12, so now I get prescriptions which are crazy--- the dollar amount for iron is 40.00- not covered under my insurance. At least with the B vitamins I can get shots and it is covered! I'll know in 3 months.......
