I am finally posting an update!
Sep 26, 2010
I am over 6 months post op now and am doing good. I am still feeling great about my decision to have RNY which, I have said that since the first days after surgery. I have lost 102lbs and would like to lose about 30 more.........although, if I didnt lose another pound I would still be happy with my current weight. WHOA........I haven't been able to say that for at least 20 years. Today, was my wedding anniversary and I realized that I weigh less than the day I got married 18 years ago---it made me feel good.
The last couple of weeks.......I have really noticed how different I am looking. I see myself in a mirror or my reflection in a window and see a change happening. The real me, the me, that has been hiding inside for so many years...is finally showing through.
I do have bad stomach days, some days I am not able to eat much, or I feel sick after eating but its getting better. Time does seem to be improving how my stomach feels. We went to dinner tonight and I ate a couple bites and starting feeling sick so I stopped.........and you know, I didn't even miss not being able to eat my meal. Now that is real progress!
I am so happy I had this surgery, it has changed not only my life but my outlook on my life.

Update
Feb 07, 2010
well, almost 3 yrs have passed since I first posted my story.....after my hysterectomy in '07, I put off having the lapband surgery. I started getting cold feet....I was worried about having an object inside me and the potential problems associated with the band. SO, I have decided that the lapband surgery is not for me. I will be having gastric bypass. I have seen my Surgeon, and he has submitted for authorization. Hopefully, my insurance will approve it the first time.......only time will tell.
