Weightloss Surgery Journey Begins...

Nov 03, 2008

Eight years ago I took the plunge with many other friends to have WLS.  Three of us took the journey together we loaded up the car and headed to Lubbock, Texas.  We let Leslie take the bullet first, then Mimi and I went next having the stomach stapling surgery on the same day.  We stayed next to each other in the recovery room and we shared the same hospital room.  We laughed, we cried, and we all celebrated the victory of weight loss.  After losing 125lbs and becoming not so much of an eye sore any longer (I had become eye candy)....  How excited I was....The sucessful journey soon ended.  After marrying my sweetie and a list of Thyroid problems and letting myself go.  I also realized that I did not take the first surgery serious and perhaps I was not ready for the journey.  At the time everyone was doing it so why shouldn't I. Through weightloss ups and downs and looking in the mirror over the past year, not long ago I said, "enough is enough".  I am letting life pass me by and I am getting no younger.  There are so many things I want to do and I am letting this damn weight hold me hostage....

So, the journey now begins....  On August 4th I attended a seminar on weight loss with Dr. Garth Davis.  Many of you may have heard of him and his father.  They are on the show Big Medicine on TLC.  He is wonderful and if you can get past his somewhat kurt insurance specialist, it is not all bad.

The week before last I finally was able to speak with this lady who is very kurt, concerning where I stood in the process and what I needed to do.  After, finding out that she had not even started my request I was furious.  Long story short we overcome this obstacle and now the ball is rolling and pretty damn fast.

No time to panic!  Let the journey begin!  ,10/28/08 I went in to have a EGD, to see what was going on in my tummy.  I was under the lasting effects of the Versed for two days and very very groggy.  I must say that I have had the best sleep ever between yesterday and today!!
The results showed that my original surgery has failed.  Further, verification for my current insurance provided to hopefully, place the approval seal on the claim.

Thursday, October 30th I went to see the nutritionist and psychologist...

More to come as we move along....
