Peggy, The reason why you cant drink for 30min after you ate is so you dont fill the pouch with fluids. And you you can get the adequate amt of proteins.Tamara

3/7/02 Went to cardiologist today and he gave me clearance to have the surgery. I'm so glad. So the new surgery date is April 5th. Another whole month to wait and since I was originally scheduled for tomorrow, every day I know that I will be wondering where I would be weight wise if I had the surgery on the 8th. Oh well, another month to wait. Maybe I can finally quit smoking this time! Peggy

Peggy, I'm wishing you a successful, complication free surgery and a quick, smooth recovery. I had my open RNY on Dec. 10, 2001 and I have absolutely NO regrets other than not having done it several years ago. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you start your new healthier life.

3/6/02 My surgery was scheduled for 3/8 (that's only 2 days away) but my pre-op testing revealed that I have an abnormal EKG. It shows some damage and they don't know why so now I have to see a heart doctor to get to the bottom of it before the surgeon can have clearance to perform the surgery. My 1st appt with the cardiologist is tomorrow but I'm sure he will schedule me for a stress test and echogram before giving clearance for surgery. I've been quite depressed since hearing all this news but am still planning to have the surgery if I can. In the meantime, its postponed until further notice. I will an update as soon as I have one myself. PeggyD

2/18/2002 Thanks for your inspiring words. I am less than 3 weeks away from being on the other side and I can't wait to get it done. I went out and bought a food processor this weekend in preparation for the pureed food I will have to eat. I've been taking multi-vitamins every day and now the waiting. These last weeks are going to drag by.

Hi Peggy, Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery!! I remember how happy, nervous, scared and excited I was just before mine. It is the best thing u can do for yourself, it is hard in the beginning but you'll do GREAT! You're in my thoughts and prayers.
