My story is very similar to others that I have read. I was skinny until around 23, I had two kids by then. My husband at that time started to make remarks but I still continued to get male attention as I went about my shopping,etc. So I did not pay much attention until later when I hit my thirties. I wanted a law enforcement career and was too heavy. So I went to a gym for the first time, cut back on eating and made the requirement. The academy was tough physically but I made it. After that the job was not as physically challenging, so slowly the weight came back. Then I got a promotion where I either sat at a desk or rode around the community. Fast foods were everywhere!! I was married again, but my current hubby doesn't "trip" about my weight. Slowly my health got worse. About five years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes but did not take my responsibility seriously until I started to feel bad, my asthma got worse, my doctor placed me on 2 high blood pressure medicines plus a lot of asthma meds. My back was and (is) killing me, I had to have a tear in one of my knees repaired; the other one aches. I then woke up and attempted a huge multiple of exercise programs and diets and all I got was a pile of bills. So now, I know I need help with my eating habits and a true dedication to exercise; don't get me wrong, I love to sweat. but it hurts my knees because I am too heavy. I walk as much as possible. I hope to use both the WLS and my craving to be thin again, to truly find my real healthy self. I also hope to inspire my oldest son to do the same because he now suffers from diabetes. My present hubby does not want me to "rearrange my guts," and he's afraid of the risks. However he will eventually understand why I want and need this tool as he always stands in my corner.
