Hi all,

My name is John and I'm currently 31 years old.  I guess I've always had a problem with weight since grade school, although I was in marching band and other activities that kept it down with in High School.  After High school i really started to put on pounds in college at the all-you-can-eat cafeterias around campus.  With no activity to help control the pounds they really started to pack on.  After college I became a flight attendant for a major airline and tried relentlessly to keep ahold of my weight and had a brief time of successful dieting, but with no lasting results.  After that I decided on going to flight training and becoming a pilot.  In MArch or 2008 I left the airline to start training as a pilot.  The training was long days and very very hot!! I forgot the smaller the plane the more non-existant the A/C, LOL.  In school I managed to drop quite a few pounds just because no-one wants to eat a big heavy meal and then go do acrobatics in a hot plane.  After training I got the call for a job offer as a Flight Instructor, only one problem... Yup you guessed it, My Weight!!  I could only work there if I kept my weight under 250, so I ran and worked out and ate healthy,,, until i got hired.  While there my weight ballooned to over 300 and my superiors were not to thrilled.  With a long history of potential health problems that run in my family that could potentially end my dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot, I became more and more worried with each required annual physical.  I finally decided to do something perminant about it.  Other family members have had great results with the Lap-BAnd and VSG.  And i weighted the options that would best suit me.  I chose the VSG because I know in the future I will be required to eat while sitting (at the controls) and I will be unable to get up and work the food passed a band as some of my family members have to do from time to time.  I also like that the VSG has virtually no mantenance like the Band, so overall I think its a better fit for me.  I selected the doctor in Mexico because I have no insurance at the time and have seen very positive results happen with Dr. Rodriguez.  I am scheduled for the 7th of October and soon will begin my journey with the Pre-Op diet on Sept 23rd.
