Revision of sorts

Jun 21, 2016

Haven't been on the site in a few years, I was an open RNY in 2004, lost for 310 to 167, did well until 2008 with maintaining. Developed a neuro condition that caused weight gain of 90 pounds, then lost that in 2013. Then of course gained 70 of that back due to the neuro condition again.

Then this last March I got something stuck in my pouch. After two months of tests and procedures it was decided I needed surgery, as they thought my pouch had become a Hiatal Hernia and was above my diaphragm. I had surgery on June14. When they got in there, they found to two rare oddities.

First my old remnent stomach had been wrapped over my pouch as an anchor by the original surgeon in 2004, this was inflamed and infected and becoming necrotic. It was strangulating my pouch.

Secondly, my small bowel had developed a rare blind limb just below the stoma outlet of the pouch, stoma was in great shape not stretched out at all.

So the new surgeon had to remove all of my previous 4-6 ounce pouch, leaving me with virtually no stomach. He feels max capacity will be about 1-2 ounces for life. He also hard to remove the old remnent stomach and the jejunum blind limb.

Since surgery a week ago, I have lost 10 pounds.
