Hi my name is Abby. I had Laproscopic Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass surgery on November 13, 2006. I was mostly always on the bigger side. I did lose about 40 lbs after graduating from high school and got down to about 150 lbs. I really started to gain weight after being pregnant with my first child. I got up to about 230 and lost all the way back to 180 (which is a normal weight for me). Then after my second pregnancy I delivered at 269 lbs. I lost back down to 230 lbs. and stayed there for a couple of months and my husband deployed to Iraq for the 2nd time and I gained 34 lbs. I decided to get the surgery when I got fed up that after dieting and doing work out videos that I could only lose 5-15lbs. and then I'd gain it all back....

I saw my Primary Care Manager at the hospital on post, and she suggested that I look into WLS. I contemplated it for a couple of months and decided that maybe I would do it. It took about 6 months from seeing my PCM to actually having the surgery. (seemed like an eternity)

During the surgery I opted for a tubal ligation. I thought after going through all of this and getting an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), that I wouldn't want to stretch back out. Since, after all, pregnancy seemed to be my weight loss enemy.

I am pretty satisfied so far. I have been able to try on old clothes and get into new bras and underwear! It is exciting.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you on the site!
