I have always been quite large.  I began life weighing 9 lbs. 4 oz. and I kept growing at an almost linear rate of 1.53 lbs per month (that is an average rate--sorry, I am an engineer so I felt as though I should calculate it).  I have been on many diets throughout my life because it was unacceptable to me for me to be that large; however, I lost my battle with diets--over and over again.  I have lost untold amounts of weight but the pounds always come back with friends to have a rave.

Finally, after reaching a weight of over 450 pounds I decided that enough was enough; my health was important to me because I have a wife that needs my care; I began looking at the lapband in the beginning of 2007.  I was ready for the surgery in May; however, my insurance company had other plans.

When I submitted my paperwork, the insurance company told me to withdraw the paperwork or they would deny it; effectively making it to where I had no chance.  They said that my diet history did not have a physician supervised diet so I had to go to the doctor every month for six months as well as weight watchers.  Woo frickin hoo!  I hated it.  But as soon as I completed it, I resubmitted my paperwork and they approved me in two days.  Woot woot!!

So my highest recorded weight was 460.2 pounds which actually occurred during my supervised diet....lol.  Oh well.  The bariatric coordinator asked me to lose weight and shrink my liver before surgery so I lost down to 433 and the surgeons said my insides looked like someone with a BMI of 30.  That made me feel good.

As of right now, February 21, 2008, I am down 70.2 pounds so I am happy with my decision.  I just got my first fill so hopefully this choo choo can stay on track.
