2 weeks post-op and going strong

Aug 04, 2010

It's hard to believe it's two weeks post-op.  It seems like it should be much longer than that already!  I'm feeling much, much better and able to move fairly well.  In fact, I've walked for a mile twice this week.  Woo hoo!  The only issue is afterwards, the muscles in my abdomen hurt a bit more.

Some cool things that have happened this week:

-- the binder they gave me at the hospital doesn't fit any more (too big)

-- I put on some exercise clothes that I usually wear and they're fitting me differently -read more loose.

-- I've figured out how to get in more protein:  Peanut butter-chocolate flavored protein shakes!  Here's the recipe JD came up with:
                8 oz. milk (8gr)
1 scoop chocolate flavored protein (23gr)
1 heaping TBLS smooth peanut butter (4 gr)
x 2/day and voila.  :)

-- I was able to move to pureed food, but still don't have much of an appetite so it's not a big deal to me.

-- I did discover though that my pouch doesn't mind spices so I was able to make a DELISH Indian flavored pureed dinner last night.  It was a packaged Indian vegetable mix and we added in chicken sausage for extra protein. YUM!

All in all, it has been a great week.  Oh, and I'm down 5 more lbs!  228, exactly 20 lbs in 3 weeks (weighed myself the week before surgery to get my baseline).  Will be soooo looking forward to wonderland and beyond!

I do know that this will eventually slow down, but for now I'm hoping to use it for all it's worth.  Tonight my Fiance and I are going to look at some possible venues for the wedding next year.  I am just now starting to realize that I may not have to look in the 'plus size bridal' section for my dress.  How cool!!  The only thing is budgets are tight and will be even tighter as we lose more savings to school, but it'll be worth it when I get to be a (healthy - hopefully normal BMI) BSN R.N. December 2011  and Bride a few months before that!
