Hello Everyone!  Sorry I haven't updated in awhile...but there wasn't much to tell...except for waiting and more waiting for this last evaluation. It was a long wait....but it's finally over! I had my psych evaluation today and everything went great. The psychiatrist who did my evaluation was easy to talk to and very understanding. He asked me alot of questions regarding the surgery.....my knowledge about the surgery.....and its risks.....my family history.....my own mental health history.....my expectations for the surgery.... if I had a history of smoking, alcohol, or drug abuse.....if my husband and immediate family was supportive....and what all I've done to prepare. I didn't take a test of any kind that some people have had to take just sat and talked with him. I was glad everything was so relaxing and he was supportive...unlike some horror stories I've heard about. THANK GOD!! 

As soon as my evaluation is sent to my surgeons office they will send it all off to insurance for approval. So, wish me good luck guys....I'm closer than I've ever been....I might even have approval before the end of the year!

Ok, guys.....I wasn't suppose to get in for my consult with the surgeon until November 21st right.....well someone cancelled and I had it today instead!!! Wooohooo!  I was told before my appointment that the probability of having my surgery before January was VERY slim......but after meeting with the surgeon and showing him and the staff everything I had prepared they were more open to the idea of me having surgery before the end of the year!!! I had a copy of my Insurance policy, doctors referrals, all medical records that pertained to the surgery, all weight history and prior weightloss attempts, my nutritional evaluation, sleep study, echocardiogram, abdominal ultrasound, GI endoscopy, and a weight chart I made showing my weight according to doctors visits over the last 10 years. I still have to have my psych evaluation....which will be next week....but after that everything will be sent off to good ole insurance! 

Wish me luck guys......I'm so close I can feel it!

Well, ladies and gents....I officially have a date for my consultation.....it will be November 21st......and I'm on a waiting list for an earlier appointment if someone else has to cancel theirs. So, with that said I will hopefully know more about an actual surgery date after my initial consult. I hoping for the first of next year......that would be ideal.  I have had and echocardiogram done, nutritional evaluation, psych evaluation, abdominal scan, endoscopy, blood work, I got my PCP refferal, my ob/gyn's refferal letter, my sleep test and it's results, and of course all of my diet attempts over the last five years, including gym memberships, and doctor prescribed diet attempts. I hope that this is all that I need........but if you think I'm leaving something out let me know........I will take any help I can get.

Ok, some interesting news.....I was all set for my appt with the surgeon but did some last minute research and I didn't like what i saw....so, I chose another surgeon that had much better statistics and a more thorough after care program. So, I had to attend a seminar for him last night and I'm waiting for his office to call me for an appt. I don't know how long this will take......there were 50 other people trying to get an appt at the same time.  This means I'm a little bit further out on my surgery quest than I was initially but I'm happier and more confident with my decision. 

In the interum I have gathered all of my medical records that will help with surgery approval, documentation of diet and exercise, and a 10 page copy of my insurance policy regarding weightloss surgery and the criteria that needs to be met. I hope this puts me a little ahead of the class when it comes to getting approval. I was told by the surgeons weightloss coordinator to bring ANYTHING that I thought would help to get me approved. 

So, on that note.....I will keep you guys up to date and let ya know when I have my first appt with surgeon set up.....and anyone who has advice about anything extra that I could bring that might help with approval.....let me know.

Today I made one of the first big moves toward having my surgery....yeah for me! 
After talking with my PCP who sent me to a seminar....going to a couple of weightloss surgery support group meetings....and saving some money up for my initial consultation....I made my fist appointment with my surgeon!! It will be September 28th! Wish me luck guys : ) I will be keeping everyone posted on every little part of my journey.....and hopefully giving someone else the information that they need or want to know to help them on their own journey.

My insurance is Empire BC/BS PPO and I am still unsure what if anything is going to be covered.
