All three surgeries done

Jan 05, 2010

I've had the last the my three plastic surgeries done.  TT, Thigh lift and breast implants.  I was out a total of five weeks.  I did them in three stages.  The only surgery that required general anesthesia was the implants the other two were with twilight.  I had no drains with any of the three and no brusing.  I think I had the best surgeon ever--Dr. Richard Scholemer in Troy Alabama.

2 out of 3 plastic surgeries done

Nov 29, 2009

I've had my tummy tuck and inner thigh lift so far.  On 7 Dec 09, I'll be having by breast implants.   I was back to work in 8 days after the tummy tuck and in 14 days after the thigh lift.  I stayed in a hotel over night after the surgery and went home with no drains with either surgery.  I also had twilight sedation with both rather than general.  I will be having all three surgeries with Dr, Schloemer in Troy Alabama.  He is from Troy Cosmetic Surgery in Troy, AL.  His web site is troycosmeticsurgery.com.  I liked not having to use general anesthesia except with the implants and that he has experience with weight loss surgery patients.  He is a great surgeon that cares about his patients and their surgery results.  I like him so well I am driving two hours each way for each of the three surgeries.  Anyone who wants more info about Dr. Schloemer or my surgeries fell free to contact me.  My stomach is flat and I no longer have hanging wrinkled skin on my inner thighs.  My thigh scars are in the groin area only, no scars down the legs.

Next Step in the process

Sep 24, 2009

I am ready to embark on the next stage in my transformation.  I have a plastic surgery consult on Oct 5 with a Dr. Schloemer in Troy, AL.  He will be doing a TT using a procedure he developed called a Combi Tuck.  He uses liposculpture on the stomach, abdomen and flanks areas and then basically does a "face lift" on the excess stomach skin because the fat is already gone.  He uses a conscious sedation and there are no drains required.  His patients are typically back to work in 3-5 days.  I will then be getting breast implants in stage two.  Then in stage 3, I am having a inner thigh  lift using the same procedure as with the TT.  I called the plastic surgeons office last Friday to try and move up my consult and the surgeon actually answered the phone.  He said on Fridays his staff leaves at noon but he would go to the front desk and look at the appointment book.  After wards, he spent over 15 minutes on the phone with me.  He asked me some questions and then asked if I had any for him.  After asking my questions, I said I didn't know if I'd have anything left to ask him at the consult and he said he had a whole list of things that had been asked by previous patients that he would go over.  He said he schedules at least an hour for every consult.  I was so impressed that when he answered the phone that he didn't just tell me to call back on Monday.  Right now he is offering a "recession discount", military discount and a discount for doing multiple procedures.  Just in case anyone is wondering- I don't work for Dr. Schloemer or personally know anyone who does.  I in fact will not even meet him until my Oct 5th consult.

Almost 16 months out

Nov 07, 2007

I guess it's way past time to update.  I am just shy of 16 months out from surgery.  I am actually slightly below the weight the NUT wanted me to be after surgery.  Tracy (the NUT) has been great working with me on a plan of action to stop losing weight.  I'm so glad I had surgery with Dr. Lord in Pensacola, FL.  His entire staff is beyond awesome and really care about all their patients.  I will admit it is so weid going clothes shopping now.  I went to the mall last weekend and asked a sales associate if they even carried jean in a size 4 that have a waistband above the belly button.  She (looked about 16) said to me you might try the "older women's section".  I knew right then this was going to be an interesting journey finding jeans that don't fit the "how low can you go" mind set.  I luckily found a pair at JC Penney made by Old St John Bay that fits pretty close to the waist and don't look too baggy.  Granted I may be 41 but I don't want everyone to know that just by looking at my clothes.  Other than getting pouch reminders when I eat too fast I have had a fairly uneventful 15+ months since surgery.  People are now starting the phase of "You're not trying to lose anymore weight are you?"  Trust me this will happen to you irregardless of your size.  It seems everyone has an idea of what looks too thin for you.  I decided early on the only one with the right to tell me I'm losing too much weight is my surgeon or NUT.  I figure they get paid good money to know those things so they're the only ones who get that privelege.  To everyone thinking about having the surgery--do your research and do what's best for you and no one else.  For those who have already had the surgery and are struggling--just hang on it will get better and lastly for those who are further out from surgery--hang in there, we're all in this together.  God Bless and Keep us all in this journey we have chosen to be healthier and happier in the life we have been given the joy of living.

Thanks Robin
