acid reflux, not sleeping, and throwing up

Jun 24, 2009

I got a fill of .75 a couple of weeks ago, went on the 3 day liquid diet, 1 day of mushies, and then back on regular food, I started getting acid reflux, and throwing up every time I laid down to try to sleep.  Went back to my Dr. and he removed .50 of the fill, and I felt okay for a couple of days and now I'm back to doing the same thing.  I've already had the band checked to make sure its in position and had gall bladder test done, nothing.  But, I guess I'm going to have to have some more of the fill removed, because everything I eat or drink comes back up. And when I even drink anything I get this sharp pain that last for a good 60-90 seconds on one sip. To put it bluntly, I'm miserable!  But, I'm losing weight because I can't keep anything down. (this is purely sarcasm)  We went to King's Island yesterday with my grandkids and it was the most miserable time I've ever had, they had to end up putting me in a wheelchair because I was completely drained from getting sick all day.  I'm not a happy camper!!!!

I'm back....

Jun 14, 2009

Well its been awhile since I've been on here, I've had a lot going on.  I'm down to 184, haven't been this weight in years and this hasn't been easy, I guess I expected more.  And although the weight hasn't been falling off the inches have,  I've gone from a size 24 to a 14, and the feeling is awesome.  At our last support meeting it was explained to me that your body goes through a redistribution period and it seems that once I heard that, the weight is now starting to come off.  I have received another fill of .75 and had to have .50 of it taken out,  everything I ate came back up, i had heartburn, wasn't sleeping, everytime I got sick I had a metal taste in my mouth. Dr Smith took .50 out and I'm no longer getting sick, I guess you could say I've reached my sweet spot.  I have always weighed and measured everything, I use a small salad plate to eat from, it would probably be a saucer but that dip where the cup sits drives me nuts.  I'm now able to get out and do yardwork, this time a year ago, I couldn't even be outside for more than an hour as long as it was not real hot due to my chf and copd, this surgery has been a lifesaver. Some of the women I work with have just had the surgery or is in the process of getting it done, and they ask all the time during their preparations for the surgery to ask me if I would do it again and the answer is always the same, YES, YES, YES!

2 months post op

Nov 08, 2008

Hi y'all, well 2 months post op and i wouldn't change a thing. I am off my blood pressure medicine, no longer using my cpap or oxygen machines,  and I have never felt better. Dr Smith has saved my life. I do have to say I was beginning to have doubts if the surgery was going to take place, it seemed like an eternity from the day that I stopped by his office and joined the team, but it was well worth it. Soon I will posting pictures, so you can see my progress. Don't give up on the trials that will be set before you, it will be worth the trip.
