How the story begins.....
First off thank you to all. your stories and picture,trails and troubles have helped me to better understand the process. i hope i will be among the rest whom had surgery soon. i go for my first consult on nov,8th. i can hardly wait!!!! i check out the site daily ,becoming an addiction. i have spent most of my life in the yo-yo stages, i lose than gain then add so more just like the rest. well i am at the breaking point if i don't do this for me who will??? I am a 43 yr grandmother who has alot to do in life yet. my husband wants me to have the surgery. very supportive man, i am very lucky! i consider this an investment opportunity, investing in my health and future. i had laser eye surgery to correct my vision last year so now i correct the body and head off any further health problems.my family history includes heart problems,diabetes,obesity,gallbladder problems and cancer, so if i can head off some of these by changeing my weight i'll have a better chance. my sister is against my doing this and want me to try herbal diet pills! if i hear diet pills one more time i'll scream. my life has been a diet pill! we take care of our homes and cars we buy why not our body we only get one of them. god i am on a soap box or what? well any way i am going for not to run the race, but to finish and win!! just like others have done and will update with my progess maybe it will help others as thiers have helped me!
Received a call from the phyc center,set up appt. on oct 30. thats is 1 week before consult. they said this was ok and would forward all tests to him and eval would only take 1 1/2 hours not the 4hours first stated, they are handling some of the cases lost their phyc dr and now they have to take up the case load. but for me thats great, insurance states no preapproval to see dr. well thats a help now to get approval for the surgery and fullfill the 2 support group meetings i might get there by the end of the year. that would be nice way to start off next year. i have been reasearching wls and have info stored on my computer just incase i have to fight the ins,but in va that have law for wls, and i will not let them forget it.
finding new high protien foods, and saving them for the list i will compile for after wls, i guess this all keeps me busy for the wait. would like to correspond with others by email that are going through or have gone through wls, i think it keeps us motivated and not get depressed by the wait. any takers?
My husband is very supportive of wls and can't wait, He is planning the time off for the surgery and helping me..we will see? he is not the best at being around sick people but he will learn fast! crash course in the making! my husband jokes that the cat will be eating more than me after wls but the cat is a 15lb cat and sure can eat! i am on this site about everyday following others progress and wishing them the best, i get excited by the progress they have made and hope i make the same. it would be nice to do the things i should be doing ..enjoying life! the more i gain the more i hate what the weight is doing to my energy and health. will fill you in on the next stage of this adventure as it happens. good luck to all!
