2 Years Post-op...118 lbs lighter!!!

May 30, 2009

MAY 30th, 2009.... that was yesterday which was my 2 yr annivasary! Im like OMG..I can't believe how fast the time just flys. This is truly a day that i will never forget. I weighed an aweful 296lb...not to far from 300 range>wearing a size 24 pants and 2X in shirts. I think to myself if i would have not had surgery where would my weight be.  I was continuing to gain all the time.  I THANK GOD SO MUCH,..because without him this would have not happened. Man I remember this day like it was yesterday; going back to when I got APPROVED for surgery which was Mar 2007 it was a week before my bday. I was so excited!  From Mar to May I was rushing to get all of my Pre-op appointments done and stressed about that along the way. You know if you dont get a clearance on any of those pre-op apt that will delay your sugery. Then 2 weeks before surgery I gained a whopping 12 lbs which I ended up having to get the Vena Cava filter in my neck. That shit hurt like hell and this was done the day before surgery. That week of Liquid dieting b4 surgery bout drove me crazy!  To this day I dont like jello, popsicles, or broth!  I still stick to drinking crystal lite and a ocassional protein drink.  Anyways everything was all set to go; my kids where with my parents I was just ready to be on that LOSER side... Morning of May 30th 2007 I checked into Baliey's Medical Center located in Owasso, Oklahoma it was early; OMG I was so sleepy, excited; and little nervous; but I knew what was about to take place. Getting to the hospital I checked in and before I could sit down good enough; they were caling me back to get all set up. I remember changing into the hospital gown, laying in the bed for what seemed like forever! I didnt have to get an IV because i had the vena cava filter; the nurse started my meds.  I had to drink that AWEFUL thick clear mess; It makes me gag til this day just thinking about it.  I said my goodbyes to my husband and I was off to the OR....I remember changing to the OR table they strap me down and I counted from 100 backwards; dont know how far I got with that. LOL!  OMG; the wake up after surgery I wish that they would have left me asleep because I was in so much pain and it took 3 hours of adminastratin different pain meds to get it under control. Finally they did and I was put in a private room which was really nice set up for baratric patients. That night one of the nurses came in and she gave me so much pain medicine I was ON CLOUD NINE...! It lasted into the next day I hardly drank any of the liquids food that they bought for me. I slept off and on and that damn oxygen mask I remember snatching it off because that stuff was burning my nose. The nurse come back in and was like you have to leave this on  for a while and I also had to to be on my CPAP!  I got up to walk and  DR.G came in to see me; he informed me that I had a hernia and that he repaired it. Everything was good and I can go home later that day.  Its crazy what doctors find when doing a EDG or opeing u up. It was good to know that it was fixed and everything went well. My surgery was done lap; I have 6 incisions because of the herina repair.  Going home was nothing I slept not a whole lot but I also did everything that I was told to do when getting home to prevent anything from happening. Day by day I felt better and better; my energy level became better as well.  Those aweful protein drinks I gag just thinking about how it smelled till this day.  I nolonger have to do protein drinks anymore because I eat eggs and chicken on a day to day bases. I take my vitamins on a regular, some times I might miss a day but; Im right back on it.  As you can see from my pic I have come a long way and Im very proud with the results that I have. I recently went to the doctor on May 26th and Dr. Pond told me everything has been great with me and my weight lost.  I told him that I have been under alot stress lately and my weight has fluctated bout 2 to 5 lbs which is normal. I work 2 jobs and Im going thur a divorce, so who wouldnt be stressed.  Til this day I still use my CPAP machine cause it helps me get thet sleep and rest I need.. I've learned what food I can and can not tolorate so its just a leave and learn experience.  If its something that you should not be eating OMG you will get reminded really quick. There was times that I had those experiences and while going thur that DUMPING... I was like I WILL NEVER EAT THAT AGAIN!  That feeling of being nauseated and like you need to throw up; lay down; and #2.  It will make you wish you would have never eaten what it was to make you feel that way.  I have learned some lessons within this 2 years. Now as of today May 31st 2009 ; Im weighing at 178lbs and feeling great! Now wearing a size 14 -16 in pants and S/ M and Lrg in shirts.  With the shirts it depends on style and brand. Some days I need the energy boost and thats what I talked to the Dr Pond about last week. I did do blood work so; I guess we will see. So far they have not called me with anything. So NO news is GOOD News as they say! As I stated; alot has changed with me and my body over this 2 year period. Me and my husband are getting a divorce and moving on.  Im moving in couple weeks to a month which Im very excited about. I'm moving by self for now because I need to get myself together plus I'm getting ready to start dental school too. My kids are going to go stay with my parents for about 6 months while I get settled and finish school. I'm truly blessed to have parents that understand what Im trying to acheive; my mom on the other hand kinda put up a fuss about it. In the end she knows that this is best while Im going thur this process.  I just want to say thank you to all of my OH family for your support and love and I truly thank god for all that he has blessed me with and thur. I will upload a pic ASAP!
