I have been overweight most all my life. It is frustrating. I can lose the weight but am never successful in keeping the weight off. Since my teens, I have tried diet after diet. I lose about 40-50 lbs. and then it all comes back. I find that lately I do not want to go out and be as social as I normally am because I am embarrassed about my weight. Also I have a few health problems which are getting worse. The big moment of truth came to me when I realized that I now have trouble walking because of the extra weight. Not good... so I decided to investigate the Lap Band.
I went to Dr. Halmi's lecture and within a week was seen by my PCP and Dr. Halmi and placed in the INOVA Fair Oaks program.
I go for my second visit at fair Oaks on 11/15 for the RD and Bariatric Specialist visit. My psych consult visit is 12/5 and my sleep study is 12/14. With my luck, I will get CPAP for Christmas...HO!HO!HO!!! Now I am taking one day at a time to prepare for the surgery and the big changes in my life. I am excited, but a little nervous about the surgery. I look forward to seeing everyone at the
support group. I have lots of questions.
I have been telling my friends, co-workers, church folks about my decision. All of them have been great! That is really important too. I need the support after surgery. Several of them had a relative who had WLS. They offered me contact information! Cool...
I am now facing the holidays and a convention trip to Florida on the Atkin's diet. I hope there are some healthy alternatives for me
at the convention.
