First Office Doctor's Visit 1-Wk Post-Op

May 21, 2007

I am trying to be motivated and encouraged today. I went to see Dr. Dyer yesterday for my 1 week office visit. I had lost 10 lbs. (yaaaay!) I felt I should have lost more than that by now considering I was on the liquid diet since Monday, April 30th (with a couple of "bad" days when I nibbled on food). I have heard of others talk about losing 20-30 lbs one week out. (I am trying to encourage myself here, but I am failing miserably). I was at a weight of 307.3 and I am now at 297.2. At least I have reached one milestone---to be under 300 lbs. I have never posted my actual weight (in case you had not noticed from sheer embarrassment), but now I am putting it out there so that I can be accountable and ALL can monitor my progress with me.

Also, I feel as I did when I was pregnant. My stomach actually appears to be larger than it was prior to surgery (which was Monday, May 14th). It looks as if it is a knot (or bump or hump...or something) through my blouses. IS THIS NORMAL?!?!?! Is it swelling from the surgery?! The port is located there as well! I feel SOOOOOOOOOOO bloated!

Dr. Dyer advanced me from Stage 2 to Stage 3. I am now transitioning to pureed food for a week and then solid food. I will return to the doctor Monday, June 11 and I pray for a better report for you then. Maybe I can be at 285 or less (trying to be realistic, but praying to be less than that really!)

I gues I will be as David in the Bible who learned to encourage himself in the Lord. I know that I have God on my side and if HE be for me who can be against me. I know it was GOD ALONE who enabled me to make it thus far and HE is going to carry me on. I am believing God for GRANDIOSE things ahead!!!

My Surgical Weight Loss Process

May 10, 2007

I have contemplated having this surgical procedure performed well over 6 years now. I was approved once and I backed out of it due to my sister feeling the need to express her concern over the surgery and its various risks. So, I had a change of heart and did not follow through with the surgery. Now that I have learned of Gastric Lap Banding, I am more convinced this is "My Time for My Thing". I attended the Informational Seminar the early part of March w/Dr Houston hosting. I have done all that was requested of me by my Insurance Company and I am now scheduled to have surgery Monday, May 14th--the day after Mother's Day. I am so elated.
