Sheryl is in her own room. She has been there since Tuesday - sorry I didn't get a chance to tell you before this. They might be sending her to the 3rd floor today for either the physical therapy floor or the 'step down' floor – she wasn't sure which but knows that they will be giving her physical therapy for 10-14 days. Today he gave her some pointers on how to get out of the chair without using her stomach muscles and that seemed to help.
She had a bad experience on Tuesday night when they left her in the chair for over 2 hours without a call button and no way to get help. She was hurting terribly by the time they came to put her back to bed and then they were rude and kept telling her she could do it herself - keep in mind she still does not stand by herself, she needs help especially after being in bed for so long - pray that the nursing staff improves. They continue to wake her up at night – you know to make sure she's sleeping - which is keeping her from a good nights sleep. They are giving her liquids now. They are also talking about not closing the wound by surgery but instead letting it heal on it's own which means that she will go home with an open wound. She told us today that it looks like raw meat - yuk that does not sound very pleasant to me.
I will visit Sheryl next week to give her an updated version of her surgery page, please send lots of get well wishes so she will have a nice thick stack to roll up and swat those rude folks with!
