My story.... Well I was not always on the heavy side. In second grade I was 45 pounds. Of course I was unhealthy the, because I did not eat. Around the time of my teenage years, I finally discovered food. Whether this was because I had started menstruating, or just whether I grew into my taste buds, I don't know. I really never had a problem of gaining weight and losing weight. I was physically able to exercise, I enjoyed it. So I did it. I liked bike riding, I was really into training our dogs, so I spend a couple hours each evening doing that. The first time I remember actually trying to lose weight was when I was 15. I had just started dating the man who is now my husband, and I weighed myself and I weighed 130 pounds. Well that was just too fat. I proceeded to lose weight. I lost 15 pounds in three weeks. Everything was great. After high school, I got a job in an insurance company. I was in the file department. That was great too, because I was running files constantly, up and down stairs. Then I got promoted to a desk job. That is when she all went down hill. Sitting at a desk, enjoying lunches out, and too tired to exercise at the end of the day became my downfall. That was in the early 90's. And now 20 years later here I sit, after many failed diets, and with time working on joints, I sit here with arthritis. And this disease hinders the ablility to exercise without pain. I have two children, and I was so lucky to have them. Now its time to face facts, and look forward. So I have to have this surgery as an intervention on my life.
