Hi, I have been overweight most of my life. I did lose weight on Weight Watchers in 1981, started out at 273 and lost
123 pounds. It was great for a while, but I never did learn how to maintain it.  So, as the years progressed I gained back the weight and more.  I've been contemplating the gastric band for several years.  I had friends who went to Mexico and had it done ten years ago.  Some of them did well, other's not so well.  So now in my mind I am ready. I have read a lot of information on this website and read information on preop and post op.  I went to Seattle  on October 1 with my girlfriend and had my first consult with Dr. Srikanth and Center for Weight Loss. He was personable, and his staff was very friendly.  Also had to have cardio clearance and a stress test, echocardiagram and bone density, EGD.  It all went well and I heard today, actually this morning that my insurance approved the surgery and I'm scheduled for 10/27/09.  I'm ready! Now on day two of liquid diet and protein, it's going ok.  I started in June of this year to get ready for the surgery.  My starting weight was 356, and I started a 1800 diabetic diet and have lost 31 pounds so far.  I'll be on the liquid diet until surgery and after.  I am very excited about this new journey, and ready to get started.
