My name is Shawn and I am a 35 yr. old stay at home Mom to two great kiddos and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 17 years. I live in North Central Texas and have lived in Texas my entire life. My kids are 16 and 12. Let me tell you teenagers are loads of fun (NOT)! But I love my kids and am pretty lucky they are really pretty good kids. My husband and I met when I was 14 and he was 17. I feel like I grew up with him and can't imagine life without him. When we met of course I was just a child and not even fully grown. When we married (at 17 & 20) I was at my best size and weight and unfortunately it all went down hill from there. It seemed as though I gained 10 lbs every year we were married and eventually ended up at this point. Every diet I have gone on I lost but then regained even more back in the end. I was diagnoed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome about 4 years ago. I think this has alot to do with my weight stuggles. I know it casue insulin resistance and makes weight loss very difficult. It took me years to even realize I was overweight. I don't know what I was thinking. Although as a child I remember always being "a little chubby" Anyway, after years of trying every thing possible to lose weight I became interested in WLS. Unfortunately I could not convince my dear hubby that it was safe. He did not support me and I would not commit without his support. I realize he did not support this because he loved me and was afraid of losing me. About a year ago my neice decided to have Lapband and after witnessing her experience my dear hubby finally came around. So in Dec. of 2007 I jumped on the bandwagon and haven't stopped yet. I had to begin my 3 month pre-op because of my ins. As soon as I had fufilled all my obligations it was submitted and I was approved in 1 week. I am scheduled for surgery on May 15th and am counting down the days!!!!!
