My journey so far...

Jun 20, 2011

So it has been a long time since I posted anything! I guess I have just been super busy! Well, I had my surgery on March 21, 2011. My hospital stay was short and sweet. I felt pretty good just a little sore. After I came home, It was amazing. I wasn't hungry at all. I had to make myself drink my liquids. That was where the rough part of my journey began. Every time I would try to drink something i was extremely nauseous! This made it difficult to get my protein and water in. I took my nausea medicine like clock work but I still felt sick. Every time I tried to drink anything I felt like it was stuck. I couldn't figure out what was going on with me. After many doctor visits and phone calls I was admitted to the hospital. I was dehydrated and low on potassium. My doctor also wanted to do a procedure where he would look at my esophagus to see if it was too narrow. I was on IV fluids and very, very painful potassium drip. The scope showed that my esophagus was not that narrow, but since I was having so many complications drinking and trying to eat, he stretched it slightly. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Once I returned home, I started to feel more normal. I was able to eat small amounts of food and drink water. After about 2 weeks my nausea went away!!!! Yay!! I can finally say the I absolutely LOVE my sleeve!!!! Today marks my 3 month surgiversary and I have lost 53 lbs. I know that this was the best decision I could have made for myself (even though I had a rough start)!
