Jonathan Aranow

"I have been a patient of Dr. Aranow's for about 4 years now. My journey began with the Lap-band procedure in March of 2007. I did very well for the first 8 months, I had lost approximately 68 lbs. then my band slipped. I was terrified of having the gastric bypass surgery so I opted for the lapband. Even after the slip I was still too afraid to have the bypass so I had a band revision in September 2008 and did not do well with it. I did not lose much weight at all and I was very disappointed with the band. It was assumed that I had another slip although it was hard to tell by tests. I finally decided that I wanted to have the gastric bypass surgery. I was terrified but I knew that I needed to do it. Both of my band surgeries were done laprascopically but the gastric bypass surgery would be done open. I had the surgery on 2/22/11. My surgery took a long time because I had two previous stomach surgeries and alot of scar tissue. I have to say that, by far, this surgery was the best of the three. The recovery time was so much faster and the lapband surgery was actually more painful due to the port. I can't believe that I was as terrified as I was and the surgery itself was not bad at all.. I also had a drain in for 3 weeks and that was probably the worst part of the surgery. I wish that I had done the open gastic bypass surgery back in 2007. Dr. Aranow is an excellent surgeon and the office staff is great. "
