I'm Home

Apr 24, 2009

I'm going to go back to Tuesday morning ( day of surgery ).
Had to be at hospital at 6:00am for surgery at 7:30am, and I was in there at 7:30.
They pulled me into to the OR room had me move to the operating table and then at least 8 people strapped me down , made sure I was comfortable and I did ask on e question when all that was going on.I asked why were they strapping me down and why was I all padded up, they told me some people wake up swinging and that is to prevent me from hurting  myself.I was happy with that answer.
Then they gave me some I don't care medicine and then I remember being rolled into my room.
My mom and husband were there and all I could do was moan.
The pain was so unbearable, I felt like I was dying. It hurt in one spot only and if course it was the one all the work was done in.
I did walk alot sooner then most ( according to the nurse )But I had to get up.When I stood up well let's just say I thought my inside were falling down.I tired to hold my stomach but all I could do was cry.I was on a morfin pump and I was able to click it every 10 mins if I needed it.
The night was ok, I made it through but then in the morning I freaked out a little.I called the nurse and told her I needed to get up and she said I'll be right there, well her right there took to long and I called again,All the pain had moved to my back and chest and I was just freaking out I had to get up.After the nurse freed me from all my plugs and tubes I sat up in a chair for a little bit, then I walked.
Around 8:30am they came and got me for my x-ray and that went very well.I was so tired I couldn't even keep my eyes open , so when I was done with the first set of x-rays the guy pushed me in the corner and put towels behind my head so I could sleep.
After all x-rays were done the nurse came into my room and unhooked me from all my tubes and wires and I was free.I was able to move freely and move when I felt I needed too.It did get easier every time.
Then I had lunch ( broth & hot tea ) and dinner ( broth & hot tea & apple juice )
That night was good but it seemed to last a very long time.I feel asleep and the nurse came in the room and I said wow you all let me sleep all night and she said honey it's only midnight.WOW I thought it was morning.
So, I walked a few times , watched TV, they gave me my medicine and I was out.
I woke up to a not so nice thing,I had an accident in the bed and I was not to pretty, so I tried to clean up the best I could , then I called the nurse and she gave me more wash clothes and I cleaned up more. Then I had to cough and let me just say I thought I pulled something in my stomach.I was smart when I did cough. I sat on the toilet when I coughed, one it was easier to sit there and when I coughed it came out the other end and it was like a river.I did that three times and man I felt better after.
Then by that time it was breakfast time and i got ( broth &hot tea & hot chocolate) I saw that and I was scared to try it , I didn't want to dump so I made it and I had about 6 sips and let me tell you it was liquid heaven, it was so good , and it stayed down.

Did alot of walking and sleeping because I feel very worn out.

I was discharged around 3:30 and it felt so good to be home.4-23-09

Slept on the recliner last night but I  had to wake my husband up because I couldn't get out of the chair. That was funny, I felt like beached whale, and all I could do was laugh.

As, for today, so far I'm feeling good, I just have alot of pain in the main cut.It seems to take alot out of me to have to breathe in a deep breath.

But since the weather is so nice I'm going to go and walk some more.I just wanted to let everyone know my experience and so far I' doing great.
Each day is better and better.
