I'm pretty terrible at keeping up with a blog.  It just never occurs to me to update.

I'm now 4.5 MONTHS post-op and I feel amazing! Well, except for one thing.  In the last 8 weeks, I've had major feet problems.  I don't know what's wrong, but I've got an appointment to see a podiatrist next week.  It's frustrating because I was really enjoying working out with my Biggest Loser DVD but haven't been able to work out for a while because of the pain in my feet.  I'm hoping a simple insert or orthodic for my shoes will fix my problem and I'll be back to exercising in no time.

I'm currently down 79lbs and even though I see the numbers on the scale, it's hard for me to believe.  I was reading a post on the NC forum the other day about a woman who is now a size 12 and she still goes to stores and picks up size 24 clothes because thats what she used to wear.  I still can't believe I can wear a size 18 pair of jeans from Old Navy.  It blows my mind that I look decent in a bathing suit.  I was cold in my apartment last night so I pulled out a sweatshirt.  It was way too big.  But I can't see myself getting rid of it.  It was from college and therefore sentimental to me.

Anyway, that's the update for now.  More in . . . 3 months or so?  ;)

Well . . . I guess the best place to start is at the beginning.  I had thought about weight loss surgery a few times over the last 3 years.  But last fall I decided it was finally time to actually check into it and see what my insurance would cover.  To my shock, and delight, my insurance company is very supportive of weight loss surgery.  It was because of this factor that I decided to look into surgery even further.

I had my surgery through the Duke Weight Loss clinic and although there are some negative reviews out there, I have had a great experience.  I wouldn't change a thing.

I am now 5.5 weeks post-op RNY and have lost 40lbs.  It's unbelieveable to me but I'm not complaining!  I love it!
