Hello! I am finally getting around to doing my profile, I guess I just do not want the same result as last time I tried to have this surgery. About 4 years ago I had Cigna for my ins. company, they would not approve me. I was approx 250 pounds 5'5" I have back problems and pain all over. But it was not enough to approve me.Here is a little about me. I am 35 now, I have 2 daughters that are 16 and 17. I have been raising them alone for about 6 years. I was with my ex husband for about 11 years.
I was never really lucky in the man department, I think becasue of that is has made me a very independant person. I have a great paying job, just bought my first home all by myself, I seem not to let things get in the way of what I can see myself doing. Except my weight. My whole life I have struggled with my weight. I was teased, taunted, humilated, treated just badly, just because I was over weight. I have back problems, I feel achy all the time, sad somtimes, and just want to know what it is like to go anywhere just to find somthing to wear. I am told I am a pretty girl then they say "if only you could lose weight" Now this is something I am going to to for me. There isn't snyone in my life I am wanting to impress but me. I pray to God I will be allowed to have this done.

So I am here again to try to be approved again. Now I have Atena for my ins. Currently I am on my 6 month supervised diet. I am on my 5th month under a Dr supervision to try to lose weight. I tried to get approval for the surgery but was denied for not having the correct paper work in. I have seen the heart Dr. and the lung Dr. I passed with flying colors. I need to still get the psyc evulation done. I have called but they have yet to call me back. I have not lost anything since I have been doing the Dr supervised diets, seems to be much harder not I have someone watching me. I was told at my last appointment I needed to do something, so I was given a rx for phentermine to help me lose some weight. I am doing this fully focused. It would very much suck if I was denied again. I have been told Atena was a much better ins company compared to cingna when it comes to approval.
Hello, December 30th, I went to my last dr supervised diet weight in. I was supposed to lose weight during my 6 months, I dont quite understand that since I have been trying my whole life to lose weight that ins. compant seems to think becasue I am on a diet with the dr or 6 months it will allof a sudden change. But I did it, lost 3 pounds, huhmm I have had a inflamed burssel sak in my foot, that makes it very hard for me to even walk, but I did it just so the ins company knew I was at least trying I am a little scared they are going to turn me down. I went to a lung DR pysc dr, and a heart dr. Passed all with flying colors. I really do hope they approve me. So now the waiting starts....

I am wanting to have this surgery for many different reasons. I have 2 little girls ages 12 and 13 that need a mother that is healthy. I have always been over weight my whole life. Like most people I have tried all sorts of diets and they just don't work for me. Heck I gained 80 pounds doing fat free...I have started to think they the free ment they don't charge you they just gave me the 80 pounds! I am just in the beginning stages of this whole thing. I h go to my first Dr appointment on Janurary 7th I hope it goes well! I will start keeping a online diary hopefully it may help others as well!
Jan.7th- My appointment was cancelled. The paper work was not done like it was suppose to be. I was very upset I could not go to the appointment. I almost just gave up. But I thought no I am going to go with this I am not going to let the Ins company win.I got the paper work done I checked up on it over and over just to make sure it was done. I learned the hard way-ALWAYS CHECK THE PAPER WORK! my new appointment friday Jan.24.
Friday Jan. 24- I went to see Dr. Batty. He was a very nice Dr.Batty. Seems like he really cared about me and this problem. He was impressed with how much I knew about this surgery. Just about everything I knew came from this site. I think he knew I had researched and not going into it blind. He asked me some questions and said he would send a letter of recommendation into the ins. company. I was happy I have gotten through that!
Tuesday Jan. 28 - Called ins company just to see if the Dr had sent in the paper work - I have learned to always check up on everyone! No they have not recieved it yet and she said it could take up to 10 days after they recieve it..... I wish this was over!
Friday Jan 31 - Called ins company to see if they have recieved the letter from the Doctor. To my suprise not only have they recieved the letter but they APPROVED it as well!!!!!!!! Yahhooooo!!!! I am approved!!!! So I called the Dr. office to see what I have to do next. they nurse said I needed to wait until they ge the paper work from the ins.company. They I will see what is next.
I was approved alright, NOT! The Dr office said i was approved throughthem, even gave me a surgery date, they never told me of the long drawn out prossess I would have to go through with the ins company and that they did not halp me at all, I had to make soooo many calls over and over to the ins company, This office lost my paper work, the nurses were not helpful in any way, they put me off and off. I GAVE Up!
