Hello, Tina. I read your post about your best friend being UNsupportive of you and now she is having it done. Go figure!!!! Well, low and behold, I went through the exact same thing. I had my surgery December 6th of 2004. My best friend told me I was gonna die, that it was stupid, etc, etc. WELL, she really hurt my feelings. She did come to a few support group meetings with me and watched my progress. I went from 240 pounds to 91 pounds. (now am stable at 100) Well, she decided suddenly that surgery is THE way to go. Now she is scheduled for August 3rd and I am with her 100% of the way. The problem is this, too many people have always been UNinformed about exactly what to expect and deal with. The only way to know is to go to the support groups. I am glad my friend turned her feelings around and wish her TOTAL luck and good results with her surgery. Hope all is well now with you and your friend. Like I said, misinformation and the fact that MOST of us do not know someone who really went through it, keeps bad info flying. Now that your friend sees you and your successes, she changed her mind. It is great and I commend your friend and her hopefully continued friendship with you. Huggs from Barb in Mechanicville, NY
