WOW, It's been too long!

Nov 20, 2007

I can't believe how long it's been since I updated; life get's away from you!  I am maintaining my weight just fine. I teeter between 175-178. I would love to get down to 165-170 and I know what I need to do I just can't seem to kick it up a notch. I wish everyone success on their journey and the best of luck!

I had surgery on May 27, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital with Dr. Darren Glass; everything seems to be going well.

Today I am three weeks out. I am still on a liquid diet. I will be going to the doctor today and have hopes that he will tell me to start adding some yogurt or somthing besides Boost. I have lost 39 pounds since the beginning of the pre op liquid diet (May 13).

6/24/05
Four weeks out today and a total loss of 45 pounds including the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Dr. Glass has told me to starting adding soft foods to my diet, but I don't have a desire to eat at all (it's a miracle). I know that I have to get in my protein, but I just can't get myself to eat anything yet. I have tried yogurt and cheese, which go down fine but just don't taste very good.

A new month and FRIDAY! I am now 5 weeks out and lost another 3 pounds this past week. I now have lost 48 pounds, 50 here I come! Everything is going well, I havn't really been sick. I still don't feel like eating anything so I have just stuck with protein shakes and some yogurt.

7/8/05
6 weeks out today and down 52 pounds. My first big goal was to see that "50" pound mark and I did it! My next big goal is to be under 200 pounds. I met with the dietician yesterday and she gave me the go ahead to try out a lot of new foods. I still have no desire to eat but I know that I need to eat in order to get all my protein in. Yogurt is still going down the best.

Friday is weigh day and today was a good Friday! I lost another 6 pounds this week, bringing my total down to 58 pounds since the begining of my 2 week liquid pre-op diet (9 weeks). I have been sick a couple of times this week (throwing up) because my food doesn't want to go down; I am hoping that I don't have to be scoped.

7/22/05
Another week gone by and another 4 pounds good forever! I weighed in 62 pounds lighter this morning from what I was on May 13. I also measured, I have lost a total of 23 inches around my waist, hips, bust and arm in the past couple of months. It's amazing to me that I have lost almost 2 feet off of my body.

I am feeling pretty good, my energy level seems to be getting better every day. So far So Good!!!!!!!!

7/29/05
9 weeks out today! Lost an additional 4 pounds this week, bringing me down 66 pounds. I feel pretty good. I am wondering how normal my food intake is right now. When I am on the boards, it sould like everyone can seem to eat so much more that I can (I'm not complaining). I am still eating about 1/2 a yogurt or 1/2 a string cheese at a time. That makes me VERY full. If I eat any more that that I end up having to throw it back up. I did get dehydrated this past week and ended up with a bladder infection. NOT FUN. They put me on liquid medication that tasted just terrible, but the alternative was pills that would have been to big to swallow. Well, enough babbling have to get back to work.

My gosh, where is the summer going? I can't believe that next month my son will go back to school and the leaves will start falling. Anyway, today is Friday which makes it weigh-in day. I am 10 weeks out today and have lost 70 pounds! I feel pretty good, only threw up a couple times this week (beef). Keeping up with my walking and weight training each day, going very well - I'm actually gaining some muscle!

8/12/05
OK, only 2pounds lost this week, but I guess it is better than 2 pounds gained! I went down to see Dr. Dan Carey at the University of St. Thomas yesterday and was weighed under water and participated in one of his research studies. Went well, I can't wait to go back in 6 months to see my progress. He was a little worried about my blood sugar being so low (60) but said it is pretty common in WLS patients. It did shock me when he said that I had the potential to go down to 140 pounds! I am 5'10'', I havn't been 140 since the 8th grade. My surgeon has given me a goal of 160 so I think I will concentrate on that first and go from there.

12 Weeks Post Op

Oh my, it's been a month since I have been here. Well, I had my 3 month check up, I am down 88 pounds. The doctor is not happy with how quickly the weight has come off; apparently I am not eating enough. He thinks that a lot of it is in my head and that I need to start eating 5-8 times a day rather than drinking my protein 2-3 times a day. I try and do meat, but tend to throw it up as soon as it goes in. I guess I will try harder.

9/30/05
Well, I have officially had my first week without any weight loss. Not a single pound this week (18 weeks post - op); BUT I am not going to complain. I am happy that this far I have lost 92 pounds and am feeling great about it. Still struggling here and there with certain foods, but throwing up only occurs a couple of times a week in stead of every day.

10/05/05
Yeah - the scale moved! Four more pounds gone forever. Food is going much better this week and fluids are going down quicker. About 30 pounds to go until my doctor's goal weight for me.

10/27/05
WOW, it's been 5 months since I had this life changing surgury. The time has gone so fast! I have lost 96 pounds so far and am very happy with that accomplishment. Some foods still give me some trouble, just last night I found out that pasta wasn't something I was meant to eat - dump, dump, dump. Oh well, we learn as we go.

December 13
Wow, I need to come here more often to update. Everything is going great for me. I have lost 106 pounds since May and life is so much more fun!! I do have some trouble with late night snacking and MUST get better at not drifting in to the kitchen at night. It was a bad habit before surgery and it is starting to creep back in to my life BUT I am determined to keep it under control. I met up with Lisa and Cindy in Little Falls this past weekend and had a blast; they are such sweet girls. I am so thankful for the wonderful people I have met on this board. Their daily advise and support means more to me than anyone could imagine.

WOW, I can't believe it was December the last time that I updated. The pounds are coming off very slow, but they are still coming off and that's the important part! I am down 115 pounds and am only 5 pounds away being "normal". I can't belive that - I may be normal someday! I spent his past weekend playing basketball and baseball and jumping on the trampoline with my 9 year old son. Ten months ago I would have never jumped on the trampoline, but I crawled right up there and jumped like a kid, it was so much fun. I am just so grateful that I have become more active with my kids. This surury is by far the best thing that has happened to me and I am grateful everyday for it. TTFN

We had baptism today for me newest niece, Taylor. She is so precious and Randy and I were honored to be her godparents. My lastest pictures were taken at the church today. Tuesday we leave for Fort Lauderdale!!! I am so excited to go lay on the beach for a week, yes, I said excited to go to the beach! Last year when we went to Florda I prayed it would rain on the day we planned to go the beach because the last thing I wanted to do was hang out in my swimsuit. I also am looking forward to the warm weather, knowing that I won't be panting and sweating like last year. I am so thankful everyday for this tool that I have been given, it has truly given me my life back.
