I am a 55 year old grandmother of three, and a self-employed office manager of a small accounting firm. My weight loss journey started years ago. I was skinny as a young child and was probably 10 pounds over an ideal weight in high school (just had a little bit of a tummy). I married my first husband when I was 18. He was in the Marine Corps (he was 19) and we were in California for 4 years. I love Italian food and he was Italian. Spaghetti was cheap, as were a LOT of inexpensive high fat foods so I ate and ate. We also drank whole milk like it was going out of style. Every week I bought a six-pack of half-gallon sizes of milk (3 gallons) at the base commissary!

At the time, I remember feeling like I was finally getting to have all the food that I wanted. But, now, the more I think about it, my mother was feeding us the right size portions all along. She never fried much food, didn't serve a lot of sauces or gravies, and when she cooked pork chops (for example) she only cooked 5! One for each family member. So, when I got married I always made sure to cook at least two pork chops for each of us to eat. What I didn't account for was the fact that I was sedentary (I have always held office support jobs) and was an emotional eater (unheard of at the time); but, he was required by the Marine Corps to be physically active and at the time he ate to live not lived to eat. Within a few years I was probably 50 pounds overweight. My first introduction to Weight Watchers was in the mid 70's. I did well (for YEARS I have done well at losing the weight, just not keep it off). When I dropped below 150 pounds I remember telling my mother-in-law that I will NEVER weigh more than 150 pounds again. Little did I know that this was only the first challenge in my weight loss journey.

I married my second husband, when I was 28, and I was hovering around 160 pounds. Through the last 27 years of marriage he has been with me through my several other Weight Watcher attempts, my first 100 pound weight loss with Jenny Craig, my regaining the 100 pounds plus some, other weight loss attempts - hypnotism, LA Weight Loss, Phen Fen (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F07E1D8173CF937A35752C1A9629C8B63) which fortunately had no serious side effects for me, numerous attempts of losing weight on my own, and finally my AGB surgery.
