After calling Connie, the PA for my surgeon, Dr. Snyder to be seen with some pain, he was going to be out of town, so I went in on Wednesday and was seen by Dr. Wilson (very nice person).  He assured me that I was ok and said for me to come in at the 3 month check up, but then decided that I should  keep my 6 weeks appt. to see Dr. Snyder because he knew that Dr. Snyder would want to see me.

All I can say is that I am so thankful for having the surgeons at the UT Physicans Group there for me.

October 30th was my surgery date, thing went great, I came home on Saturday and have been moving around real good and able to keep the fuilds going in once the IV came out.  I only had the feeling of dry heaves three times and I think it was from the tube used during anethesia.  The pain has also been very managealble, once the morphine pump came off on Friday, I only needed one dose of Lortab Friday evening for a massive headache and have not had anything since then.

I have 6 small to medium incision that were basically crazy glued shut.  When they preformed the surgery, it was with the use of the robot. 

Tomorrow , Tuesday, I start adding protein shakes, yummy!!

I'm hungry!!! I could devour a small village right now. I'm excited that it's just three more days till surgery, but I've been on liquids only since yesterday.  This evening for my family I cooked their dinner and just wanted to lick everything to get a taste.  My husband was cooking to cook, but my kids gave me pleading eye to please not let daddy do it.  :o)   At least I have class the next two nights, so my protein drink will be my dinner and I don't have to worry about cooking when I can't eat.

Wednesday I was at the doctor's office meeting with the surgeon, before I talked to him I was given a three page questionaire to fill out on my knowledge of my surgery and I had to draw a picture too.  I think it was great, as I know some people are going thru this and not fully-mentally prepared as to what is to be expected and the commitment involved.

Anyways, after the "test" I went to the hospital to do my paperwork, have labs done and meet with various "people".  I was given some bottles of wash that I need to scrub for surgery the night before and the morning of at home before I arrive at the hospital.

My date is fast approaching for my RNY, Sunday I am to start the liquid diet, I was told to drink 4 protein shakes (Slim Fast Optima, Atkins) a day, plus all the clear fluids  (crystal-lite, water, broth, jell-o) I wanted.  Hopefully, I will be "nice" while I go without "real" food.

Today I found my letter from Cigna approving me for surgery, WOW, it was submitted on Monday, they must have decide that same day and mailed the letter.  Tomorrow I find out my surgery day, looks like it will be the Oct. 27th.  I will see the surgeon on Wednesday the 15th to get started on the liquid diet.

I haven't been that good about posting each month what I have been going thru, but here I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Because my records with the GI doctor in April talked about my weight, diet, etc. We have submitted my request to the insurance company one month short of the 6 weight management that they require, we are doing this as I have been suffering with a gall bladder that is not functioning correctly.

Everything has been faxed in as of yesterday, so now the wait....

After talking to the doctor at my initial visit that I thought I was having problems with my gall bladder although ultrasounds show no stones or inflammation, I had a HIDA scan done a few days ago.  The test did show that my gall bladder is not responding 100% how it should, so we are a wait and see for now.  If I get real bad, then it comes out, but hopefully I can nurse it along until I have WLS and then it will come out.

I had my psych evaluation on May 15th.  I called the doctor's office (surgeon) today to see if they have received the fax with the other doctor, they are to call back, but they told me if the psych doctor's office hasn't called for a follow-up then everything should be find.
