I'm so excited! Today I got the letter from Pgh Bariatrics telling me that "Yes, I am a candidate for WLS."!!!!! I'm so excited to to meet with them, I can't wait!! I just have to mail them my "medical info packet" and they will call me to schedule the appt with the surgeon! Yayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Weight

WOW! I just weighed myself today and I weigh 247.5!!! On 11/28/08, I was 255!!! I don't know what's goin on, but I like it!!! Since my PCP visit that day, I've been trying to stick to a 1200-1600 calorie a day eating schedule and I GUESS I've been doin' ok on it!! Wow! That was such a surprise to me!!Seminar

11/28/08- I visited my PCP today and advised him of my intentions. He said he was unfamailiar with PGH Bariatrics plan, because any time he has a patient that needs the surgery, he refers them to Excela Health in Greensburg to thier Bariatric program. Unfotunately my insurance does not cover them because they are not a "Center of Excellence". I attended thier seminar in October but did not know that UPMC stopped covering surgery there until after the meeting. Which is why I contacted Pittsburgh Bariatrics on my own. I searched UPMC's site for Bariatrics and that is how I found Drs. Quinlin and Means. I am very happy thought that I've decided on St. Margaret's since Dr. Quinlin is such a pioneer in his field. I feel safer doing it there. I'm already a patient at UPMC Mercy in Pgh because of my heart issue. And Dr. Means used to work there. Well I'm babbling LOL. I'm just excited I'm on my way!!!On 11/25/08 I attended the Pittsburgh Bariatrics Seminar that I was required to attend before my insurance will approve surgery. When I called to schedule a spot at one of the seminars, the lady told me that this one was already full..so i BEGGED her to squeeze me in!! And she did!! I was ecstatic! So, I attended the meeting with my hubby and was very impressed with Dr. Means. He seems very young to be so experienced, but i loved his confidence and the way he came across! He also seemed to have a great sense of humor (a PLUS in my book lol!!) Anyway, other than the distance I have to travel to get to St. Margaret's, I'm very pleased. Everyone seems so nice and helpful I can't wait to get started!!!About Me
