2nd Fill
Aug 14, 2007
So I had my second fill on Saturday. I only got an additional 1 cc put in my band which took me up to 5 cc's in my 14 cc band. I feel a little more restriction now than what I did but I still think that I will definetly need more. Good news is I have lost an additional 5 pounds putting my total at 44 pounds. I will admit I was a little disappointed in only having lost 5 since my last appointment but as Dr. Curry said at least the numbers are going in the right direction and I am losing not gaining so that is a plus. I do have a ton more energy than what I did before and I can't wait to see where I am at next summer. I will post more later.
Energy anyone?????
Jul 31, 2007
Well I am about a little over a month post op now. I've had one fill and scheduled for a 2nd one next weekend. I can't believe the energy I have gained from losing between 40-50 lbs. I went out and bought a bike so I have been riding that every other night at least 2 1/2 miles sometimes up to 6 just depends on weather etc. And of course walking walking walking. I just feel like I am able to do so much more than what I could before. I did have a little experience with an almost stuck episode on Sat. with Chicken. I do not wish that on anyone and mine wasn't even completely stuck just that oh my chest feeling and nausea feeling but I didn't puke. We are going to the lake this weekend to swim and bike ride so looking forward to that. At least that will be fun exercise. Everything is going so good so far. I did have to break it down and go shopping for a couple new outfits my other ones were falling off (not complaining at all mind you). Well gotta go get some things done.
First Fill
Jul 20, 2007
Well I went for my first fill yesterday. I have to admit I was a little nervous of what it would be like but amazingly enough it was rather easy. And the plus is I have lost 7 more pounds since I was last there a couple of weeks ago. Being on the liquid diet for a day hasn't been as hard this time as what it was before surgery. I got 4 cc.'s put in my 14 cc band. I go back in 2 weeks to have another fill so I am wondering how much I will get then???? I have been managing to walk about 2 and a half to 3 miles a day since I have lost some weight and I feel great. I have energy like never before. I know I still have a long way to go but just in what I have lost so far has made me feel a lot better. I also feel now that I have a little fill in me that I can really kick this band into gear.
2 week post op appointment
Jul 05, 2007
So I had my 2 week follow up post op appointment today with Dr. Curry. Lisa (nurse practitioner) told me my incisions look great and I can begin to excercise now. That is good so it's not limited to only walking anymore and I can drive again. Shewwwwwwwwww thank goodness. That has sucked the most, having to have my husband chauffer me around lol. I go back on the 19th of July to get my fist fill. Kind of nervous and scared of how that is going to be but I think I'll be ok. Good news is I have lost 32 pounds since I began this journey. Can't wait until the 19th to really get it kicked into gear. Will write more later.........
Home and Banded
Jun 24, 2007
Well I am home from the hospital banded and ready to begin my new life. Here is my banding journey at the hospital. I arrived at the hospital around 8:00 a.m. and got signed in and had to sit and wait for a little bit. Finally someone came and called my name and I had to follow them back to this preop type waiting area. She had me change out of my clothes and put on a gown and proceeded to take my vitals and hook me up to an i.v. After I was all hooked up they called my family back to wait with me until 10:30 (surgery time). The nurse came in a couple of times to give me things in my iv to make me groggy, calm my stomach down, and an antibiotic for when the surgery actually happened. Before long the doctor came in asked if I was all ready and told me he would see me in there. I got into the operating room and they had me get onto the table. Things started happening so fast then. I remember having these sticky things put on my chest to watch the heart rate and all that and I remember the anesthesiologist asking me if I felt groggy from what the nurse had given me. I told her no not really and she said well breath into this (an oxygen mask) and said she was going to give me some more of the medication in my iv. Next thing I knew I was woken up by the anesthesiologist saying ok Tommie it';s all over you did great. But I freaked because the tube was still down my throat. She said just breathe slowly and when it registered to me what she was saying and I in fact breathed slowly she pulled the tube out and they got me back into a regular bed and off to the recovery room I went. I remember a lot of ppl being there and a nurse taking my vitals and asking what my pain was on a scale from 1-10 and I told her about a 6 so she gave me some pain medication. It really didnt' seem like it but I was in the recovery room for about 2 hours. I must have been really out of it at that time. Afterwards I was taken to my room (private thank goodness) and my family got to come in and see me. I had to stay overnight because of living like 3 hours from my doctor but I am kind of glad for that because it was relaxing somewhat and comforting to know I was being checked on all the time. I am home now and a very sore but it is easing up some. I have taken my pain meds last night and tonight but I am walking, drinking and all that just fine. My doctor told me I got the new ap large band that will hold 14 cc's. WOW. lol. I am so glad I had this done and I am also so glad I have this week off lol. For anyone reading this getting ready for surgery just know it really isn't that bad of course your sore afterwards but it doesn't last long and so far knock on wood I am doing great. Good luck to my friends with the surgeries coming up. Until next time......
Only 8 more Days!!!!!
Jun 14, 2007
So I only have 8 more days until surgery. I went to my doctor today and he is giving me the green light to go forward with this. I am getting excited. I really didn't think that the time would move as fast as it has since I began the medifast diet on May 22 but it has went rather quickly. I found out today that I have lost 27 pounds. The nurse wanted me to try and lose 40 to 50 but I'm not sure i'm going to make it to that point but I'll be really really close. I already feel so much better with only 27 pounds gone I can only imagine the energy I will have when I get 100 or more. I can't wait until that point. Everything else is going really good I feel energized and ready to start a new journey in my life. Till next time....
Nutrition Class, Consent signed, preop testing....check check c
Jun 09, 2007
O.k. so here it is Sat. June 9, 2007 and I am happy to report that preop testing and everything is done done done. I was so worried about having the preop testing and I don't know why it was all really simple. I went to the hospital got the admitting done they drew blood, I filled out some papers, they did an ekg, talked to the anesthesiologist and poof I was on my way. Erin Dr. Curry's dietician did my weight and I was so shocked that I am down 22 lbs. since I began this journey. They wanted me to lose 40-50 and I think now after going there and seeing my loss that I can in fact lose 40. Only 18 more to go right.
Other than that not much to report. I go to my family doctor on the 14th to have a physical and my history done he will fax it to my dr. and the 22nd away I go. I am so excited and getting a little nervous. I told my husband last night that it all really hit me yesterday when I was signing the consent forms that this is really going to happen. It's been one he** of a ride getting here but it is in fact finally here!!!!!
I did have a couple of rough days this week with my financing. It was suppose to be run through as one year no interest but it was only run 90 days no interest and my payments were going to be 447 instead of 300. Shewwwwwwwwww thankfully that was taken care of by the insurance coordinator. Well I'm off gotta go make me a protein shake and work on this additional 18 pounds. Till next time........
Almost At The Home Stretch
Jun 04, 2007
So I believe that I am in the home stretch of this pre diet phase. I keep looking at it like this full week and next then only 4 days. It does kind of seem to be going quick but not quick enough. I do feel a little better with some weight off of me already so that's a definete plus. I just keep thinking omg what if I go for my appointment and preop testing on Friday and haven't lost enough weight are they going to refuse to do my surgery ? Will I have to endure more of this medi-fast *yuck* diet for longer than the 4 weeks? It has really been hard and I feel really bad for my poor husband because he is who I vent to but he is supportive of it all and just keeps trying to tell me to look forward to the end result. I think though just for my family to get a feel of what this diet is actually like I will make them up some yummy...hang on hold my hair back because I think I'm going to get sick....puddings or soups and have them eat that as a meal. That way they can feel my pain lol. Oh well preop testing is Friday and I am very psyched for this I hope it all goes well and these last two weeks fly by. Will write more later.......
10 Days Down, 22 To Go
May 31, 2007
So here I am still on the medi-fast diet. So far I have lost are you ready da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....14 lbs. I wasn't going to weigh myself but decided to go ahead just out of curiosity so I did so at work. I was so shocked I about crapped myself. They want me to lose 40-50 lbs before surgery so if I keep going at this rate only 26 more pounds to go to hit that 40 mark. Now last week I would have laughed at you and said yea 40 lbs my a** but I honestly think it's possible now. I will say though after surgery if I hear anyone say medi-fast, chicken broth I will probably puke. Until next time........
