I learned a lot from this one page. I work at the VA Hospital in West Haven and there have been at least 4 people I know that have had the surery from Dr. Reinhold. They all have told me to go with Dr. Valin because Dr. Reinhold, although the leading surgeon in this field he has no bed side manner. He actually taught Dr. Valin. I have not met Dr. Valin, But my referral was from my cardiologist, his twin brother. I feel I have already met him. I have not made any final decisions at this time as to who I want to have the surgery with. All I know is I need the surgery. When I called Dr. Aranow's office in Middletown, I talked with Lois his assistant and she was very helpful and patient with me. She answered all my questions, told me to call back in a couple of weeks to see if there were any cancellations and she would move me up on the list. She was sympathetic with the long wait, but emphasized that the office was extremely busy. Dr. Aranow normally spends about 1-2hrs with you for the first consult. She is sending out an informational package to me to fill out and advised that I send it back to her as soon as possible. This way if there is a cancellation and my information is already in the office I could be scheduled for an earlier date. keep in mind that Dr. Aranow's office was the only office that gave me a date. The other offices jsut told me they would add me to the list and the waiting list was 6 months long. How do I know if I am even on the list?
