SNOW DAY!

Feb 03, 2011

I have been a little lazy with this blog, but I have been doing very well with the weight loss.  I am down to 223 and that is totally awesome!!  I don't want to ever go back to where I was and I need to work on getting down to my goal of 153.  I have not made good on my New Year's resolution of joining a Zumba class or freeweights yet.   However I am doing well on healthier eating.  (ok, still have a problem with some chips, but I am working on it!!)

It's cold and snowy today (a whole .5 inches) and the whole city has closed until noon and school is off today, Hooray!!

Have a safe day, week, month, year!!

Woohoo! Happy Pouch-iversary!!

Sep 15, 2010

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Haaaaaappy Anniversary!!  Today is my one month anniversary of my surgery and am soooo glad I finally did this.  I have lost 55 lbs since I started my journey and feel so much better.  Can't wait til I have lost 50 lbs post-op.  I encourage anyone thinking about WLS to do just do it.  It is a life changing feeling.  You feel so much better, you have more energy for doing things, and yes it is hard, but anything worth doing is going to take some getting used to.  Changing your health is always a good thing!

No Swelling!!

Sep 06, 2010

After starting 2 lasix and 2 potassium I have conquered the swelling beast!!!  I am still in some pain, but have not had to use the lortab.  Yeah!! No more drugs!!  I have gone from 295 to 283.4 and feel pretty good.  Now I have to start walking to help bring down more water and weight.  Started  eating  solid food and I may have started to fast.  I had my first 'DUMPING' experience and I don't want to do that again, if I can help it!!  I still have some owies in my tummy, but nothing I can't handle.  I have to be more careful when picking my next solid meal.

Well til next time, laters!

UUUUGH!!

Sep 02, 2010

Here I am almost 3 weeks post-op and I am still swelling!!!  The docs all say it is normal to swell after surgery.  Well I have not read anywhere that anyone else is having the same problems as I do.  I have ended up in the ER twice already and each time I am told "its just the swelling is pulling on your incision".   Well then why do I have to wait for the swelling to go down naturlally and just tolerate the pain and use my narcotic pain meds.  I just don't understand why they won't let me take the damn water pill and get this water off!!  I thought this was not supposed to happen. I just don't understand why my body is retaining so much water.  When I was in the ER, the doc did some tests for kidney function and said that they were working well.  SO WHY CAN'T I GET RID OF THE WATER!!!  Sorry for yelling, but this is so frustrating.  I figure that after 2 weeks post-op the doctors would know that there is a big problem with water retention, especially if I am drinking 80 oz of water daily.  Is it that I am not drinking enough?  Because when I was given an IV in the ER I gave a great sample.  then the next day my output was just the same....minimal.  I don't mean to sound like a cry baby, but this pain is almost unbearable.  Now when the ER doc talked to Dr Patels' on-call doc(Dr Bell) he told the ER doc that the medication from the Qball had worn off and that was the reason I was having so much pain and that it was normal.  Well the ER doc did not like that answer and said that answer did not resolve the question at hand.  So he ordered a catscan to make sure there was nothing really wrong, there wasn't.  He said that he did not want to send me home in the same condition, but there was not much he could do, but take the pain med and wait on the doc.  He said to just keep in contact with the surgeon and hopefully they can give me better answers.  I am beginning to wonder if the swelling and pain will ever stop!

For newbies

dont' get discouraged by me.  Not all surgeries go this way most are very successful and uneventful.  I do not regret getting the RNY done.  Alot of other things have improved like my high blood pressure, diabeties, and for the most part, my sleep apnea is improving.  The surgery is well worth it and encourge you to not to let anything get in your way of improving your life.

Ahhhh, The sweet smell of a new journey!

Aug 26, 2010

Well it's friday and this past week has gone by so fast.  I mean, feels like just yesterday I had my surgery and here it is a whole week and 2 days later, amazing!!  The healing part is going well, and I am doing everything I am supposed to and still I am swollen.  My PCP says that my body is shock and withdrawl and is rebeling.  Makes me feel like an adict!  C'mon body get with the program!! Yeah, maybe yelling at it will make it better.

One thing is for sure I do not miss taking all those HBP meds with their icky side effects!

I acually went thru buyers remorse!!!  You know, the 'what did I just do' thinking.  I know it will get better, it just takes time, patience, and sticking to the PLAN STAN!  I just wish there was an eaiser way to help my body through this water retaining time.  I just want it to come off now!!!  It feels like I have these water bags on my legs and I want them to bust already!!!!  Did I metion I am trying to be patient, I am not a very good student of Patience U.

Day 3 of liquid diet

Jul 07, 2010

THIS IS SO FREAKIN' HARD!!!  I don't know how other people do this.  I am trying so hard then there goes the cheat button.  GOTTA HAVE IT, GOTTA HAVE IT, GOTTA HAVE IT!!  It has been just a taste.  Not like it is a whole meal.  Then it hits me, maybe I am not getting enought protein to sustain my appitite.  Tomorrow I will try using a high protein shake.
