I am 33 years old and I have 2 children whom I raise by myself. They are almost 9 and 12 years old. Ever since I had my first child ( 1995) I have put myself last for everything. Including my health, which has led me to become 280 pounds. I have many obesity related health problems : Diabetes, High blood pressure, sleep apnea, GERD, arthritis, and hyperlipidemia My weight had stayed about 230 until I got pregnant with my second child (1997). After having him my weight slowly climbed to 300 lbs. This surgery is something I have been thinking about for a few years now. I want to be around to see my kids graduate high school, go to college etc. Before I was pregnant with my daughter (1994) I was 20 years old and weighed 145 lbs. I hope with this surgery I can get down to 160. That is 120 lbs I hope to loose.
** And I hope to gain even more:
~ self-confidence
~ the ability to run
~ play with my kids - to actually participate, not just watch
~ have energy
~ not to worry about fitting in chairs, booths, rides or breaking them.
~Not to have to shop in Plus size clothing or order out of a catalog.
~Not to feel like avoiding people in the store that I knew when I was much smaller.
~ Not to have more ailments than my 73 year old grandmother.
~ To be able to stop using my CPAP machine
~ not to be swollen and so tired from a day of shopping and errands that I have to elevate my feet, take Advil , and use Ice/heat.
